Raiders QB of the late 60s and early 70s Daryle Lamonica aka The Mad Bomber has died.

Defeated by the mighty Pack in Super Bowl II, but by all accounts a good player.

Daryle Lamonica for search purposes, assuming it doesn’t search text in a link.

Ever since I saw his death on Wiki, not being a fan of handegg, I've been trying to remember where I know the name from. Was he mentioned in a TV series or something?

Former NFL linebacker Clayton Weishuhn died in a car wreck near his hometown of Wall, Texas, on Friday.  He was 62.

Weishuhn, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle in a one-car rollover accident.

Weishuhn became an NAIA All-American at Angelo State and helped the school to a national title in 1978. The New England Patriots drafted him in the third round in 1982.

The 229 tackles Weishuhn totalled in 1983 still stand as a single-season team record.

Du'Vonta Lampkin, a former NFL defensive lineman who was on the Tennesee Titans roster in 2018, died on Thursday night, according to the Dallas Morning News (per Yahoo Sports). He was 25 years old. The Morning News says Lampkin's friends found him dead of a gunshot wound at 10 p.m. local time. Lampkin, who played college football for the Oklahoma Sooners, was staying at an apartment that was being rented out as an Airbnb because he was moving into a new apartment.

Lampkin played for the Sooners from 2015 to 2017. He redshirted his first year before playing during the 2016 and 2017 seasons. In 2016, Lampkin played in only five games as a result of a six-game suspension. In 2017, Lampkin played in 12 of Oklahoma's 14 games and recorded 22 tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss. While Lampkin was at Oklahoma, the team won three Big 12 titles and reached the College Football Playoffs in 2015 and 2017.

The New England Patriots family suffered a loss on Thursday. One of the greats from the AFL days — yes, the Boston Patriots — Gino Cappelletti has died at the age of 89.

He was a kicker and a wide receiver, catching 292 balls for 4,589 yards and 42 touchdowns.

Cappelletti earned the AFL 1964 Most Valuable Player award and was one of three players to play in every game in the AFL’s 10-year history, along with Jim Otto and George Blanda. Cappelletti finished his career as the AFL’s all-time leader in points (1,100) and field goals (170).

Calvin Magee, one time Buccaneer and much traveled college coach whose pro career was cut short by weight issues has, maybe unsurprisingly, died of a heart attack aged 59.

Back to back Dallas Cowboy RBs!

Don Perkins, a six-time Pro Bowl running back with the Dallas Cowboys in the 1960s, has died. He was 84.

The NFL team and the University of New Mexico, where Perkins was a standout player before his professional career, said Perkins died Thursday. No cause of death was revealed.

Perkins rushed for 6,217 yards in 107 games with the Cowboys from 1961-68, and is fourth on the team's career list behind two Pro Football Hall of Famers — NFL career rusher leader Emmitt Smith and Tony Dorsett — and their current running back, Ezekiel Elliott. Perkins' 42 rushing touchdowns rank fifth in team history.

Boy, did I hate this bastard back when he was a player.  Suppose he was a rather harmless reporter, and occasional shill for fat-guy diapers, after his career.

Siragusa was great entertainment in a dumb jock way and I mean that (for once) in a positive manner.  He was funny and insightful enough and I was vocally saddened to hear of Goose’s death a few minutes ago.  Too young. RIP
