Wilson played starting center for the Cincinnati Royals, Chicago Bulls, Seattle SuperSonics, Phoenix Suns, Philadelphia 76ers, and Buffalo Braves of the National Basketball Association from 1964 to 1971. He competed for his home country at the 1988 Summer Olympics, finishing in nineth place. He won two silver medals at the Pan American Games, first in 1987 and then in 1995. The second medal was taken from him because of a positive test for steroids in a previous competition. After his suspension ended in 1999, Tafralis tested positive for a banned substance methandienone and was banned for life.
