Igor Vasilyev died May 26 was a Russian handball player who competed for the Unified Team at the 1992 Summer Olympics (won gold, he played 7 matches and scored 2 goals). He was born in Volgograd and died at the age of 57

Mike McFarlane, Team GB athlete who won silver at the 1988 Games in Seoul in the 4x100m relay, reportedly dead: 

Several medals at the Commonwealth Games in 1982 and 1986. McFarlane was 63.

I remember way back in 1982, Mcfarlane was in the Commonwealth Games 200m and running against Allan Wells. They were locked in battle down the home straight for what seemed like forever and then crossed the line in a rare dead heat. They shared the gold medal. RIP.

Zdeněk Košta died on 11/Oct/2020 according to the Czech Olympic website, and some sites like Wikipedia and Olympedia inform that he died in 2022, so I don't know which information is correct, he died under the radar, and he was the oldest living Olympic cyclist old man, who is now Frenchman Charles Coste, born February 8, 1924, living Olympic medalist in cycling. The oldest living Olympian to represent Czechoslovakia was him too and now we're in a dilemma and it's complicated. Růžena Košťálová, born February 21, 1924, is still alive according to this 2020 document from the Czech Olympic Committee. A 2021 comprehensive work by František Kolář, however, Encyklopedie olympioniků. Čeští a českoslovenští sportovci na olympijských hrác, lists her, on page 178, as having died in January 2013. Both sources seem very reliable, and so it is plausible that both are mistaken; therefore, we continue to list it as alive, although we cannot be absolutely sure. If Košťálová had died, however, 1952 gymnast Jindřich Mikulec, born May 11, 1928, would be the oldest living Olympian to represent Czechoslovakia.

Aye, though also remembered as an American Football player (he started after the Olympics) and there were some mutterings about his two sub 10-00 runs, one hand held timing the other definitely sub 10-00 but in the Olympic Stadium in Mexico City which is roughly a mile above sea level. Bob Beaman's amazing long jump world record which stood longer than Hines' 100 metre record was set in the same stadium at the same Olympic Games.
