George Wilson was born in Meridian, Mississippi and died on July 29 at age 81, was an American professional basketball player. Wilson played starting center for the Cincinnati Royals, Chicago Bulls, Seattle SuperSonics, Phoenix Suns, Philadelphia 76ers, and Buffalo Braves of the National Basketball Association from 1964 to 1971. He played college basketball for the Cincinnati Bearcats and won a gold medal at the Summer Olympics in 1964 .

Ahmed Anarbayev born in Kara-Balta, Kyrgyzstan and died in Bishkek on 6/Aug, was a Kyrgyz Soviet swimmer who won a silver medal at the 1970 European Aquatics Championships. He also competed in the 400 m freestyle at the 1968 Summer Olympics, but did not reach the final.

Another footballer who was part of the 1960 Great Britain squad, Terence Howard, died in 2021. He is the father of footballer Terry Howard  who played for Leyton Orient from 1986-1995.

Born in Belfort, France, Cesare Cipollini died aged 64, the cyclist competed for Italy and competed in the team pursuit event at the 1976 Summer Olympics.

Helen Smart (nee Helen Don-Duncan), Team GB swimmer who represented the country in the 200m backstroke at the 2000 Olympics, reportedly dead aged 42: 

Won medals in the same event at the World and European Championships and for England at the Commonwealth Games. British champion.

Gregg Tafralis was born in San Francisco and died aged 65 on Aug. 11. He set the world's best performance of the year in the men's shot put event in 1992. He competed for his home country at the 1988 Summer Olympics, finishing in nineth place. He won two silver medals at the Pan American Games, first in 1987 and then in 1995.

The second medal was taken from him because of a positive test for steroids in a previous competition. After his suspension ended in 1999, Tafralis tested positive for a banned substance methandienone and was banned for life.

His personal best throw was 21.98 meters, achieved in May 1988 at Los Gatos

He competed in the men's 3 meter springboard event at the 1952 Summer Olympics, was his country's oldest living Olympian, was born on 25/Mar/1929, now Sri Lanka's oldest Olympian is John De Saram born on jun/27/1929, competed in the 1948 olympics in athletics, in the 200m and 400m

he was the champion of an older edition of the Olympics in the double skiff modality, now the champion of an older edition is Anatoliy Sass, the Russian (competed for the Soviet Union) was champion in 1968 (he was born in 1935), he partnered with Aleksandr Timoshinin, who died in 2021

He was champion in 64, the previous champions of this rowing modality and his duo in 64 (Oleg Tyurin, who died in 2010), have already died

Vladimir Timoshinin was born in Moscow and died on 15/aug at the age of 53, known for winning the gold medal in the men's 10 m platform at the 1991 European Championships, and bronze in 89 representing the USSR, and representing Russia won gold at the European in 95 and bronze in 94 and in 99 he was silver in the 10m synchronized, represented the Soviet Union at the 1988 Summer Olympics and Russia at the 1996 Summer Olympics (Atlanta, Georgia)
