Allan Smith died aged 94 on 12/aug, was a scuba diver from Sri Lanka. He competed in the men's 3 meter springboard event at the 1952 Summer Olympics

Fair play to him. It can't have been easy doing a somersault in the tuck position with an oxygen tank strapped to his back! I bet it made a hell of a splash on entry!.

John Devitt dead. He won two Olympic gold medals in swimming. The 4x200m freestyle relay in 1956 and the 100m freestyle in 1960.

I had come to hear he was in poor health 2 years ago from an acquaintance who is a neighbour to him. Looks like it was true in this case.

EDIT: Fixed the link

Someone who appears to be a relative has been editing the page of British middle-distance runner Bill McKim (wiki) to say he died on 28 May, aged 81.

One for you to look into @Canadian Paul (if you're still reading).

The British athlete who ran the 1500m in 1964 died in June

He was Olympic ring champion of an older edition of Olympics still alive (56 and 60), now this champion is Takuji Hayata (JAP), champion in 64
He was also the living world champion of an older edition in the ring modality (in 1954 and 58), now this position belongs to Yuri Titov (USSR) champion in 62.
Yuri was also an Olympic team champion in '56 and is the only one still alive on that team after Albert's death.
Albert was the first European ring champion in 1955, the champion of an older edition is now Yuri Titov as well

László Hódy (Wiki) later known as Les Hody, Hungarian basketball player, died on 26 May 2023. He first represented Hungary at the 1952 Olympics. After the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, he sought refuge and emigrated to Australia. There he changed his name to Les Hody and was able to acquire Australian citizenship. He then played for Australia in 1964 Olympics. In doing so, he became the first Olympian to compete for 2 countries. Fun fact, he was the youngest player for the 1952 Hungary team while he was the oldest for the 1964 Australian team.
