Competed in the 1972 and 1976 Olympic Games and won Bronze in the 100m and 200m at the 1970 Asian Games.

Boris Budnikov died aged 81 on Apr 26 , the Soviet sailor won the silver medal in Soling at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow along with Alexandr Budnikov and Nikolay Poliakov

Ukrainian Vira Krepkina, 1960 Long Jump gold medallist for the USSR, has died aged 90. 

 

She was a sprinter, competing in the 100m and 4x100m in 1952, 56 and 60, being eliminated in the heats, but in 1960 also entered the long jump, and surisingly won with a jump of 6.37m (OR).

American athlete Ralph Boston, who was known for his success as a long jumper in the 1960s, died at 83 years:

Broke Jesse Owens' 25yr old WR in the same year and had improved it to 8.35m (with Igor Ter-Ovanesyan) by 1968 until it was obliterated by Bob Beamon. RIP.

David Jacobs died at age 45 on 28/apr, he was an Indonesian Paralympic table tennis player, bronze medalist in the 2012 and 2020 Paralympics in singles, and in the 2022 world in mixed, several medals at continental level

Afonso Buonocore died May 12 at age 90 was an Italian freestyle swimmer and water polo player who competed in the 1952 Summer Olympics and the 1956 Summer Olympics.

In 1952 he was eliminated in the first round of the 100 meter freestyle competition.

Four years later he was a member of the Italian water polo team which finished fourth in the Olympic tournament. He played five games.

Keiko Tanaka-Ikeda died on May 13 at age 89, was the first Japanese gymnast to win a world title, won on the balance beam in 1954 (becoming the first Asian gymnast to win a world gold medal). For 63 years, she was the only Japanese gymnast to win a world gold medal, Tanaka-Ikeda won seven more medals at world championships from 1958 to 1966. She also competed at the 1956, 1960 and 1964 Olympics in all gymnastics events artistic and won the team bronze medal in 1964; his best individual achievement was a fourth place on the ground in 1956, he died of brain cancer in a nursing home

Zbigniew Kaczmarek died aged 76, was a Polish weightlifter who competed in the 1972 Summer Olympics, the 1976 Summer Olympics and the 1980 Summer Olympics.
At the 1976 Summer Olympics, the first Olympics to test for anabolic steroids, he won the gold medal but tested positive for anabolic steroids and was therefore disqualified for doping and had his gold medal stripped and suspended.died on 15/may

Per Røntved died aged 74. He was a Danish footballer who played for German club Werder Bremen from 1972 to 1979. He also played for Danish clubs Brønshøj BK, Randers Freja and Hvidovre IF. He was named Danish Player of the Year in 1972 and was the first to reach 75 caps for the Danish national team, from 1970 to 1982. and played in the 1972 Olympics, played 6 games and scored one goal (in Brazil)

Buddy Melges, a legendary sailing figure known as 'the Wizard of Zenda', has died. He was 93. Melges was an America's Cup winner and a two-time Olympic medalist.
