To be fair the Olympics is quite an easy category as it’s easy to say if they competed or not. For football I will only post British players or those with national team caps.

There's been about 150,000 people who have taken part in the Olympic Games since its modern day inception in 1896 (plus add about another 12,000 names to that number every 4 years once both another Summer and Winter Games has taken place).

The vast majority of them are very obscure. In fact, many of the vital details (in some instances their names!) are missing when it comes to the early athletes. Every year 100s of athletes die off radar as well, so in reporting dozens of them here at once you're not being a completionist by any means. So what's the point? Unless they at least won a medal or had some claim to fame (i.e. being one of the oldest survivors, caught doping, became a big politician etc) it's a bit futile.

He was the last living Spanish olympian from the 1956 summer games.

Indeed, Spain only sent 6 athletes, for the equestrian events who took place in Sweden. They didn’t send athletes in Melbourne, to protest against the presence of Soviet athletes.

Always surprises me that Switzerland joined Spain and the Netherlands in that boycott.

 

Come 1980 those three did participate as the Americans got a lot of non European countries to boycott but the governments of Europe could only get the federations from West Germany, Norway, Turkey and two micro-states to boycott.
