Isn't the wire for reporting the deaths of those who participated in the Olympics?
I just posted one that won a gold medal, and it wasn't reported here, please explain to me, can't you put what's on Wikipedia here?

The older users here get triggered over things really easily. You didn't do anything wrong.

As an older user I resemble this remark.

Also I have/had no problem with Diego posting an Olympian's death in the Olympic Deaths thread. I'm more pissed off by the repeated jokes about Peter Falk having Alzheimer's tbh.

Can we help our friend @Canadian Paul solve his questions? Shirley Cawley is the only that I'm sure is alive.

https://olympstats.com/2023/01/03/last-known-alive-in-2012/

Yes, I can help @Canadian Paul with one of these (if he's even still reading this).

Eddie Bowey (wiki) is dead.

Eddie Bowey's real name was Edwin Bowey as per Olympedia. They have his DOB as 5 Jan 1926.
A quick glance at FreeBMD reveals that there was only one Edwin Bowey born between 1920 and 1930:
Eddie Bowey b. 1928, Edmonton, London
A glance at the GRO Index reveals his fate – Edwin Bowey b. 1928 d. Q2/2016, Enfield, London.
A further search in 192.com shows an Edwin "Eddie" Bowey at a London address... until he falls off the register in 2016.

Heh, looks like he has two Wikipedia pages (created in 2018 and 2019). The second one got his DOB right, it appears, though.

Already spotted that, and I just redirected one to the other.

Crazy that it went unnoticed for so long!

The guy who made the Bowey surname page listed both of them at the same time. I guess he wasn't curious about there being two English wrestlers with similar names at the same Olympics... :scratchhead:

Shirley Cawley, Robert Collins and John Strover would appear to be alive.

Explosions reported at the finish line of the Boston Marathon as I post this! Terrorists, or a burger van gone off by accident?

Surprisingly no other posts about the 2013 bombing so I’ll attach it here (it doesn’t belong here, the incident should have had its own thread).

Bill White, the longtime Bolton resident who lost his leg during the Boston Marathon bombings at the age of 71, died on Dec. 17 in Oregon. He was 81 years old.
