Local newspaper report; apparently the Welsh FA refused to award him his cap as it was only a 15 minute sub appearance. Took 25 years before he got it.

Mahmoud Bayati passed away on 2/12 at the age of 94, the Iranian was the coach who won the Asian Cup of Nations for the longest time (in 68), now he is his compatriot Heshmatollah Mohajerani, who won it in 76. He was the oldest coach in Esteghlal alive, coached in 1967-1968, now the oldest is Parviz Koozehkanani, who coached in 1971. He coached the Iranian national team in 67-69 and 72-74 and was the oldest living coach of the national team, which now happens to be Jalal Cheraghpour, who coached 82-84

As a player he played in Taj (IRA) between 49-60

Karim Bavi former Iranian striker who played for Persepolis, Shahin and Shahin Ahvaz died on 7/12 at the age of 57
He scored 10 goals in just 23 games for his country's national team, won 3rd place in the Asian Cup of selections in 1988, being the third of that national team to die, including a coach.
He was top scorer in the Tehran league in 1985 with 9 goals and in the Qods League in the same year with 19 goals

Took CSKA Sofia into the old UEFA Cup group stages. Took Liverpool close in the CL Qualifiers, KO'd Leverkusen in the UEFA Cup, and only narrowly lost to Monaco when a draw would have taken them into the next round.

In March of this year (triple checked the dates this time) Gary Mabbutt seems to have undergone carotid artery surgery: https://www.spurs-web.com/spurs-news/tottenham-confirm-club-legend-has-successfully-undergone-artery-surgery/ (thanks to research on that 1987 Tottenham squad).

 

He seems fine - 40 years with type 1 diabetes and a couple of heart surgeries.

Damn, a complete legend in the world of squash, single-handedly saved the British Open and brought it to Hull. Revered by the whole squash community. 

Also I had him as my DDP Joker 4 or 5 years back. Famously described by Steve Bruce at the time as 'not a well man'.
