Alas no. I was there on Monday and we didn't deserve anything from the match. The word is that Carlisle banked about £300K when they were last seasons beaten finalists at Wembley, that's the sort of money that Exeter can ill afford to lose out on. Equally annoying was that a weakened team lost 4-1 to Huddersfield on Saturday, which included the venerable partnership of Rob Edwards and Marcus Stewart in midfield. Two great players, both sadly lacking in anything resembling pace these day.

Grim news for the great player Marcus Stewart (a stalwart of the lower leagues, and Sunderland, earlier this century), as I'm afraid he's been diagnosed with ALS aged 49.

A quality player for Bristol Rovers with a fantastic football brain - like Teddy Sheringham, he made up for a lack of acceleration and pace by being a step ahead of everyone else. Sad news.

Another tragic instance of heart issues causing premature death in a footballer as 23-year-old Equatorial Guinea international Mariano Ondo collapses and dies during a training camp with the national side.

He had been with domestic-based side Cano Sport since 2019 after leaving Macedonian side Shkupi the year before and had seven caps for the national team at the time of his death.

He started his career at SC Darnach in the youth ranks before moving to hometown side FC Basel, where he featured for their Under-21 side, but never made a first-team appearance.

He moved to FC Thun, where he once again played for the Under-21s before making 121 appearances, scoring five goals.

After leaving Thun, he joined FC Luzern, but only made two appearances in the 2017-18 season and moved on to FC Aarau, where he made 37 appearances before retiring in 2021.

Well, well, Nicolas Schindelholz QO:

Not picked in the DDP this year though, but after the Ronnie Hellström and Piet Schrijvers non-QOs I was thinking that continental football players generally dont obit.

Younger people tend to have better Obit chances than those who are older.

Radovan Radakovic,  who among many teams as a player and manager was the goalie of the Partizan Belgrade side that qualified for the CL in 2003 (beating Newcastle United!), dead at 52.

Showing you all how on top of news I am right now, I just found out Radakovic had died, from Hulka's email telling me someone on my Alt Obits team had died.

Has a very important place in football history as well: he was the first person to get a Panini sticker

John Duncan, former Tottenham striker who enjoyed managerial success, most notably with Chesterfield, has died aged 73.

Well remembered for masterminding the FA cup run that so nearly saw them reach the FA cup final in 1997.
