People Who Are Dead According To Wikipedia...

Recommended Posts

update-can't find any verificartion that he's dead but it looks like he could be in his final hours-his son has issued a statement tonight to say he has deteriorated further and is asking the nation to pray for him http://www.wbtw.com/...ttles-infection

It's possible he could have died tonight though

And it's possible he didn't. Why not wait until you're sure and it's been confirmed before posting?

To be fair, it is in the correct thread, ie wiki rumours......

Nobel laureate Sir John Cornforth's page was edited yesterday to say "my grandad passed away this morning blah blah blah"... either the media are really slow or it was a hoax.

Actress Eleanor Parker's page was edited tonight to say she had passed. Also seeing a few tweets emerging... worth keeping an eye on!

EDIT: Silent-era actress Carla Laemmle's page edited to say she died today as well.

And so we wait... God our media are shit, or I'm gullible. One of the two.

Turns out you got 2 out of 3 right.John Cornforth has died after all http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-12-14/australian-nobel-prize-winner-john-warcup-cornforthn-dies/5156806

Will be when I get a UK Obit!

Almost makes feel like vandalising a few more Wikipedia pages to see if it boosts my chances.

Do you think if you live to 104 you might eventually grow out of that sort of bollocks?

Bloody hell guys that was meant to be a self-depreciating joke, things really don't translate well on the internet.

Creator of Postman Pat and Rosie and Jim John Cunliffe apparently from a stroke - but no link confirming his death. And no news stories afaik.

I still remember him as Fizzgog on his canal boat from ITVs Rosie & Jim from the mid 1990s. He looked a bit creepy back then.

BUT he did create Postman Pat and that's my 18 month old sons favourite TV programme (after Hey Duggee), so I shouldn't rant.

Puzzling. According to Wikipedia, as far as I can see, he's still alive. But if you Google him, in the little Wikipedia-style profile on the right hand side of the search results (which doesn't seem to have any obvious source?) it claims he died on March 13th 2016 in Ilkley. However, the same profile also claims he was married to actress Carmen Silvera (Edith in Allo Allo) from 1941-48, which would be very impressive since he was born in 1933. Looking on her Wiki page, she was indeed supposedly married to a John Cunliffe, an actor she met at repertory theatre and married aged 19. So maybe this John Cunliffe has died? I feel sure this would have made the press by now if it were true...

His death has been edited out after the time of my post above. I'd say always forget the summary on google and check the page itself.

Resurrection...confirmed.

It simply can't.

Wikipedia is basically 'bullshit for the bored'.

Wikipedia is great in some ways, but it has its flaws as well. Some of the articles are extremely well written, better than some professional journalism, whereas others are the pits. It's highly variable.

Three people:

Phyllis Harmon (99) - cycling advocate or some shit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phyllis_Harmon

Bill Macy (94) - actor in "Maude" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Macy

Wynona Mulcaster (101) - Canadian painter https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wynona_Mulcaster

Phyllis Harmon has a death notice here: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/sptimes/obituary.aspx?n=phyllis-w-harmon&pid=181236818

The other two seem to have been resurrected.

Bill Macy surely a hoax, would be a walk-in Daily Mail obit if he had gone due to his role in Maude.

BIll Macy is alive. His Wiki "death" has been removed.

Surprised no one has mistaken it as the death of William H Macy. Seems a more obvious chance for a death hoax, but the less obvious, the more realistic.

Macy clearly a hoax then. Harmon obit posted above. And here's Mulcaster's:

Geez the press really suck when it comes to reporting the "minor fame" deaths...

For anyone who fancies a deep dig (good luck, I've looked and looked and looked!)... here are some names of people who have had their pages edited within the last year or so to say they're dead. They're probably dead, but nothing to prove it it seems...

Frank Miller (b. 1918)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Miller_(singer)
Singer; he was the last surviving member of the band The Easy Riders

Stephen Grammauta (b. 1916)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Grammauta
Mobster; member of the Gambino family

Roma Wilkinson (b. 1918)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roma_Wilkinson
Songwriter of hits popularised by Bing Crosby, Andrew Sisters etc.

Patricia Laffan (b. 1919)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patricia_Laffan
English actress in Hollywood B films

Margot Wolk (b. 1917)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margot_Wölk
Food taster for Adolf Hitler
