Memento Mori 12 Posted August 18, 2010 A new year, a new Ideas and possibilities topic. Regards, FF I'm beginning to think that Michael Douglas should be on the 2011 list. Dare I suggest that dad Kirk may outlive him?!
DevonDeathTrip 2,366 Posted September 1, 2010 (edited) I feel that Michael Douglas deserves his own thread. Despite his upbeat manner, the latest reports that his doctors were unable to diagnose his condition for several weeks and the fact that he now has stage 4 cancer mean that serious consideration should be given to him appearing on next year's DL. Letterman -- unaware of the various stages -- asked him if it was an encouraging diagnosis. “Um...no,” Douglas replied. “You like to be down at stage I, but it has not -- the big thing you’re always worried about is it spreading ... and the expectations are good. The percentages are very good. I would hate to say, but right now, it looks like it should be 80 percent, and with certain hospitals and everything, it does improve.” I'm not sure his survival chances are as good as he suggests. Other statistics on the www indicate that he perhaps has a 30% chance of living another 5 years. Edited September 1, 2010 by Magere Hein Topic consolidated. Yvonne 364 Posted September 2, 2010 I wish I had a magic wand To make it go away; I'd wave my scepter over you Until you were okay. I'd think good thoughts; I'd send you love; I'd transmit healing vibes; My wand and I would surely beat Whatever the doc prescribes. But there is no magic scepter, so I cannot cast a spell; Just know you're often in my thoughts, And I hope you'll soon be well! Get well soon Michael

Windsor 2,235 Posted September 2, 2010 I heard Michael Douglas has cancer, Serves him right - the little chancer, Now he faces pain and strife, A change from the pleasure of a young wife. We can but hope that this is the end, Lets all pray that he is not on the mend. Both father and son now racing for death, With a chance of a grandson KOing on Meth. Put them both down for twenty-eleven, They'll gain their place in DL heaven. Perhaps too we could aim for a Pope, If he does the decent thing and hangs from his rope. The End. That is the second time I've been compared to him... Switch to free verse and you'll be fine. Had McGonagall known that trick, he'd have written someting like: beautiful railwaybridge of the silvery Tay! with your numerous arches and pillars in so grand a row and your central girders, which look to be almost towering to the sky and have had all praise of his peers. Avoid rhyme at all cost and the rest is a matter of typograpy. regards, Hein

BCAlum2000 42 Posted September 5, 2010 IF by any chance Michael Douglas DOES die this year....could he possibly be the most significant death of 2010?!?!?!? Wow...just goes to show how slow this year has been for celebrity deaths if that's the case. OF course, it's very wild speculation. Obviously, somebody much more famous than Michael could die this year, and there's a very good chance Michael could survive his stage 4 throat cancer, but I just find it particularly interesting if by years' end, if Douglas does die, he's actually a strong contender for most significant celebrity death of this year. I really don't understand this notion or obsession with most significant death. Surely it is relative. For example, if Michael Douglas were to die, it would personally have no effect on my life. If the lowly character of BCAlum2000 were to die however, that would be more significant to my life because he would no longer be around to do my tits in by constantly going on about the 'most significant' death of the year. It's about personal preference at the end of the day. The most significant death of the year for me without question is Alex Higgins because he was one of my sporting heroes.. BCAlum2000 42 Posted September 5, 2010 I'm glad to hear that despite the fact I don't even live in the same country as you, I have the ability to get under your skin. B/c quite frankly, if you were to die, I wouldn't give a crap b/c you are not worth my spit.
