Thelma Ruby seems in good condition.

A few old timers I've stumbled onto researching who *appear* to be alive.

Michael Godley (born 1925) - Another actor who did the tour of popular UK TV - Poirot, Morse, A Very British Coup among his credits. Retired within the last decade. Doesn't show up in the BMD but could be a stagename. There was a Michael A Godley who died in 2015 but reverse engineering that provides 3 people who were all born on the south coast a long way from Sheffield!

I did search the website to see if this was mentioned, but I've found this Instagram account which appears to legit be for Michael Godley, former actor turned artist. Sadly, it seems he died in January this year, aged 98, though he appears to have kept in good health and active until the very end.

I've already covered him on the Spring-Summer Equity Magazine, thanks for the date

Cheers for finding this. Have sent to IMDb.

BBC4 with Peter Davison and Christopher Timothy remembering All Creatures Great and Small, filmed earlier this year. Davison looks fine for 73, Timothy has been through the war with cancer of late.

I didn’t know that about Christopher Timothy. A lock for my Eastenders team from now on then.

I just thought of that show this week.  Living in the U.S I would remember as a kid my parents would watch this show on PBS. Some of it was adult humor I did not understand, but I still have memories of it.

Helen Mirren thinks it's sad that Kurt Cobain died before he could see himself being tracked by GPS systems:

https://variety.com/2024/music/news/helen-mirren-kurt-cobain-gps-1236190259/

She's always had a bit of a cooky side to her. Makes me wonder when it crosses over into dementia territory. I almost made a thread for her but then I realized that I had conflated her with Judi Dench in my mind. Helen Mirren, at 79, might still be slightly too young for a thread, though she's worthy of it.

Reading the complete article, her observations seem perfectly sane to me.  She has spoken about technological advancements several times in the past, and Cobain seems to be her regular point of reference.

Yes, it does make sense internally. The internet, of course, is still having a laugh. Apparently, Kurt Cobain is her version of "back in Vietnam...".

Now that Cobain has been dead for 30 years, it comes across as a little bizarre. But after all, 79 is old. And at that age, you don't update your references anymore, I guess.

Not sure I'd class her as a character actress. To the best of my knowledge she wasn't doing bit parts in Crossroads and Dr Who :D

On the subject of Helen Mirren, this Twitter account exists...

https://twitter.com/MirrenLaments

Despite being created in August, it appears to have only started posting yesterday, around the time that Standard interview surfaced!

So someone had a blank Twitter account, changed the screen name and username after the interview? It takes the whole of 2 minutes to do.

Wasn't quite sure where to put this, but thought we were overdue a masterlist for British television actors so went through a list of UK TV shows of the 60s–90s earlier and singled out all the actors turning 90+ in 2021. Vast majority of these names will obit for sure:

Arnold Yarrow (wiki, b. 1920) EastEnders; Doctor Who
Geoffrey Chater (wiki, b. 1921) One Foot in the Grave; Harry's Game; Z-Cars; Bognor DIED 16/10/2021
Elizabeth Kelly (wiki, b. 1921) EastEnders
Nadia Cattouse (wiki, b. 1924) Angels; Johnny Jarvis
Raymond Mason (IMDb, b. 1924) Z-Cars; The Two Ronnies; The Bill DIED 16/04/2022
Donald Pelmear (IMDb, b. 1924) Doctor Who; Yes Minister
Leslie Phillips (wiki, b. 1924) Revolver; The House of Windsor DIED 07/11/2022
William Russell (wiki, b. 1924) Doctor Who; Coronation Street DIED 03/06/2024
Laurie Webb (IMDb, b. 1924) Doctor Who; Hancock's Half Hour
*snip*

I haven't included cameos, actors who had a single occurrence or presenters etc. because more use in a list like this if it's extensive rather than exhaustive.

As always, additions very welcome.

Nadia Cattouse (wiki) being reported dead by her cousin on Facebook.

Would have turned 100 in just a few days.

A DDP pick for 2 teams.

EDIT: I did not realise until just now that her husband was David Lindup (1928–1992), the professional partner of Sir Johnny Dankworth (1927–2010), who of course was the husband of Dame Cleo Laine, currently a DL pick! Small world.

Nadia Cattouse and David Lindup being the parents of Mike Lindup, the keyboard player with Level 42.
