I credit Tom Wilson for that, but Dolph certainly played a part as a recording engineer. The Norman Dolph acetate provides a good look into early VU though.

Paul Vance, a songwriter and horse owner who penned the song Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polkadot Bikini, has died. He was 92. Vance's death was reported prematurely in 2006 and discussed in the Deathlist Forum at the time. Among the other songs he wrote or co-wrote was Playground in My Mind by Clint Holmes. His son, Philip, was the child vocalist on the song. Philip Vance died in 2009.

I had heard mention of his death this morning on 60s radio yet oddly couldn't find any related Twitter chatter. Though unfortunately they played Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polkadot Bikini immediately after in tribute!

He also wrote this (and this is better than Perry Como).

Sometime guitarist with The Manhattans and brother of Regina Belle, Bernard Belle has reportedly died after recovering from a stroke some years ago: https://www.soultracks.com/story-bernard-belle-dies

Co-wrote such as Remember The Time for Michael Jackson and Something In Common for Bobby Brown with Whitney Houston, but I've plumped for Hi-Five's I Like The Way (The Kissing Game), #43 in the UK charts in June 1991 (although a much bigger hit elsewhere) which I may have posted on another thread in connection with a death:

Alan Blaikley, international hitmaker with his long term songwriting partner Ken Howard, has died: https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/elvis-presley-hit-songwriter-alan-27402515

Many songs for Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich, including Bend It, Zabadak! and The Legend of Xanadu, as well as the Honeycombs' hit Have I The Right. I'm going to plump for this one from The Herd:

Ken Howard is alive.

Article here on Mickey Jupp - a contemporary of Ian Dury, Dr. Feelgood (he wrote Down At The Doctors),  who turned his back on the  music biz but continued to write songs; he's just been convinced to release an album from his 'secret archive'. Still going strong, but he is 78.

It's a tough choice to pick a favourite he co-wrote, but I am gong to run with Martha And The Vandellas Heatwave - perfection.

Dozier did scrape a November 1972 #29 in the UK with Why Can't We Be Lovers as a performer, but it's his songwriting I think will be forever beloved.

Yes, I'm well aware of his career as a 'pop star', with a jobbing sideline in co-writing about a thousand of the world's best-loved songs. Nothing against Dame Livvy or her fans, but his life's artistic output meant slightly more to me than ON-J's.

I always liked the way Odyssey did his Going Back to My Roots, so...

Reports of the death of British electronic musician and composer Mark Shreeve (IMDB):

His tune Legion (Here I Come) was featured on The Jewel Of The Nile soundtrack, but hey he's going to be better known by me and others of my generation for his co-written Samantha Fox numbers, including Touch Me (I Want Your Body):

A quick tip of the hat to Sonny West, who co-wrote Rave On and Oh Boy with Buddy Holly, and died in their home town of Lubbock TX.

I’m not sure whether he wrote the Rave, the On, the Oh, or the Boy parts, sorry.

Nile Rodgers is reporting Thom Bell dead. Acclaimed songwriter (La-La Means I Love You, I'm Stone in Love with You, Could It Be I'm Falling in Love, Ghetto Child, You Make Me Feel Brand New,  Are You Ready for Love) and producer known for the Philly sound. A big loss for soul music.

Meh!  I wasn't going to approve this one 'cos she's been mentioned in the Fleetwood Mac thread, but I suppose she was a songwriter too. (Don't hate me)
