Magere Hein 1,400 Posted July 1, 2014 I've always had a hard time with people insisting that we suddenly start praying. If their deity is omnipresent and omniscient, surely he'd be aware of what's going on. Unless she's suggesting it's a last minute petition to the deity to say "hey don't wipe us out just yet!". But as someone told me a month or so ago when allegedly it was the work of "angels" that saved a small child when he fell out of an 11th floor window onto a pile of mulch and then just a day or so later 250+ Turkish miners were killed, that we weren't to question why "God" does what he does. Those Turkish miners were godless heathens, so that's alright. What I'm missing in al this is not the "start praying" bit, but rather the "start paying" bit, after all the most important thing in the god business. regards, Hein
Sean 6,315 Posted July 2, 2014 Even if we took advice from this woman we would still go to hell at the rapture as you have to do the will of God to get into heaven rather than just plead for mercy - at least that is what I was always told at the Anglican church my parents went to.The Evangelical church on the other hand when I visited talked so much self righteous crap that I just couldn`t be arsed to argue as it was as futile as a windscreen wiper attached to a goats arse!I always think with people like Graham`s daughter (and Graham) that ram their religion home to others 24/7 must be insecure about its validity.I am religious but think that religion should be treated like a penis - fine to be proud of, fine to show in private but not to be gotten out in public and rammed down the throat of others!
Bibliogryphon 9,572 Posted July 9, 2014 Apparently recording a new video message that will be released on his 96th Birthday (Nov 7). Either all those prayers worked, he wasn't as ill as all that anyway or he is an optimist? This may be a cover and he is recording something that will be shown when he dies. Spade_Cooley 9,519 Posted July 31, 2014 http://billygraham.org/story/franklin-graham-my-father-still-prays-for-the-lost/ Update on the Rev from his son. Nothing particularly useful there: he's basically bedridden and senile. AND AS FOR THE FATH etc etc etc
Sean 6,315 Posted July 31, 2014 What I took from this is that he can`t actually do anything for himself -So they are keeping his cause going by constantly mentioning what he is supposedly praying for and replying to letters on his behalf (despite him being nearly deaf blind most probably senile and ridden with Parkinson`s disease)as can be seen on his website!Sounds a bit exploitative if you ask me ..then again this is Evangelism we are talking about! Well, Christianity has paraded the corpse of Jesus for 2000 years now. (Yes, I needed a week to come up with that.)

Sir Creep 7,070 Posted February 11, 2015 Sometimes it's hard to tell when these web pages have indeed been 'updated'. This SEEMS to be from this past week and SEEMS to be his grandson saying 'he's old lol' (ok he didn't say lol) and SEEMS to indicate since his birthday he's been in hospital for respiratory issues, and most DEFINITELY a statement asking for prayers. Read I to this link anything else you wish. Anyway, here's a presumed update. gcreptile 10,967 Posted June 4, 2015 New health update from his son: http://www.wltx.com/story/life/faith/2015/06/01/at-96-how-is-billy-graham-doing-update-from-his-son/28315159/ Not really insightful, probably because there is this whole faith industry built around him and Franklin Graham is using his father as a marketing tool ("He still lives because Christianity is being attacked"). I mean, those daily articles from him, they're (probably) ghost-written as well.

Phantom 2,533 Posted August 19, 2015 Billy Graham's son-in-law has been found unresponsive in his swimming pool: http://wkrn.com/2015/08/18/billy-grahams-son-in-law-hospitalized-after-being-found-unresponsive-in-pool/ "Unresponsive" Is this the new word for unconscious, or does it mean something different? I think this may help explain If you are unconscious you are also unresponsive but it's due to a dramatic alteration of your mental state. If you are unresponsive you are simply not responding to outside stimuli and it could be to due to a number of different reasons that may not involve consciousness. So unresponsiveness is a symptom of being unconscious but not the cause; however, unresponsiveness can be a symptom of many things either mental or physical.
