Aye, just added Purple's Highway Star to the folder for the list of the lost show

Lyrics the likes of which you seldom find "Nobody gonna take my girl, I gonna keep her to the end, nobody gonna take my girl, she stays close on every bend, ooh, she's a killing machine...I love her, I need her, I seed her"

Machine Head has to be one of my all time favourite albums.

I still have the vinyl, it is now very old.

There maybe better albums but not many though!

A fair point though largely because they never sounded better - all credit to Martin Birch for that

Agh, really sad about this one. Great live shows and nice guy, got to talk to him in passing at a show once. Rest in Power.

Simeon Coxe, the electronic musician behind the experimental psychedelic rock group Silver Apples, has died. He was 82. Coxe's decision to incorporate the sound of a vintage oscillator into his music led to the formation of Silver Apples. Their music caught the attention Jimi Hendrix, with whom Coxe once jammed.

That group was really ahead of their time.

Interesting choice for a thread, but he will be missed.

Agreed, if anyone was nailed on for our lovely little Piper/psych thread, it was Simeon Coxe. RIP.

I looked up 'psychedelic rock' in the Deathlist search engine. Other than the chart-specific 'UK Singles Chart' thread, this was the one used most often, albeit there haven't been too many of the genre who have passed..Can't say I've ever seen the Piper/psych one.

Dropping one of his more recent recordings into the List of the Lost show for the start of next year - likely something he'd have appreciated more than a track from their first album. Made it to 82, not bad considering he broke his neck when the band's tour bus was forced off the road in 1998 and he could never play his instruments the same way again.
