Sir Creep 7,070 Posted May 19, 2016 David Ginola had a cardiac arrest today. Hope he will recover well and soon. http://www.lefigaro.fr/flash-actu/2016/05/19/97001-20160519FILWWW00272-l-ancien-footballeur-david-ginola-victime-d-un-arret-cardiaque.php Never played in a World Cup, because he was a meme footballer. I know but i didn't know where to post that news. Wouldn't worry too much about that. This is the third thread it's been posted on. 'Bout time to start a David Ginola thread then. Because he was Argentinian, it was pronounced Hooss E man. There is a Liverpool ( is it Sunderland now?) player from Uruguay called Sebastian Coates, pronounced Co-wartez . Fascinating stuff!! charon 4,943 Posted June 4, 2016 If you remember that lfn, then you'll mind the France - Hungary game, where France had to play in a local teams strip. Istvan Halasz of Hungary who I think made one of his few appearances in that game, deid @64.

Istvan Halasz of Hungary who I think made one of his few appearances in that game, deid @64. I think I do vaguely remember that, mind you I was 13 then and its a fucking long time ago. Im sure the pitches were massively shit and covered with 'ticker tape' IIRC, it was winter there then.
charon 4,943 Posted June 4, 2016 Correcto. My favourite WC, and I was only 11. France turned out in a green and white stripe job as both had turned up in their away kits, both white. France scrounged a strip from an amatuer club . Bizarre, but it had happened a couple of times before at WC's (54 + 66 maybe from memory??)

GossipGabe 333 Posted August 28, 2016 3-2 to the Czechs then. Curious how much four years difference makes, in comparing the number of survivors of the 62 final to the 66. Harsh as it may sound, but the difference between the number of survivors is only partly due to the 4 years difference. England (the UK) and Germany are both high income Western countries, while Brazil and the Czech Republic are middle income countries, where alcoholism and unhealthy lifestyles are more prevalent, and the healthcare systems are clearly inferior. Life expectancy at birth for males is at 69.9 years (CIA World Factbook) in Brazil; for the Czech Republic it's much higher (75.5), but used to be worse when it was part of the Eastern bloc.
