msc 18,439 Posted January 1, 2015 Blimey, Spade - some good low hangers there (whom I'd admit to have never heard of before), a seemingly high risk/reward joker, some highly questionable obits, and at least one complete bastard. Oh, and the wrestler too! Pan Breed 2015 1. Colin Bloomfield (joker) 2. Martin Crowe 3. Helen Fawkes 4. Kate Granger 5. Eric Lubbock, Lord Avebury 6. Sam Simon 7. Jimmy Hill 8. Joost van der Westhuizen 9. Seumas Milne 10. Ryuichi Sakamoto 11. Percy Sledge 12. Glen Campbell 13. Jacques Villeneuve Sr 14. Vojislav Seselj 15. Mary Wilson 16. Asa Briggs 17. Patrick MacNee 18. Peter Sallis 19. Peter Sutcliffe 20. Caroline Aherne I fully admit Seselj might be pulling a "Chap from Guinness" about his health, but you never know. No uniques whatsoever, I don't think, but I figured after a few disappointing seasons to focus less on the uniques, and more on the ill. The joker was originally going to be Ali Carter before he improved. And Valerie Harper got dropped, which seals her 2015 fate.

Predictor 1,018 Posted January 1, 2015 1. Leonard Nimoy: The team joker. Although his COPD probably makes him in no mood to joke. 2. Maureen O’Hara: Wheelchaired, has diabetes and is quite old now. 3. Reginald VelJohnson: I think he’s the next James Avery. 4. Ethel Lang: In case no one else dies, I need a guarantee that I won’t end up with zero points. A supercentenarian is often reliable in this aspect. 5. Charles Zentai: Formerly on Simon Wiesenthal Center’s list. Claimed to have a heart disease and peripheral neuropathy last decade, but that might’ve been an attempt to avoid trial in Hungary. 6. Patricia Hitchcock: In bad shape nowadays. Will get an obit because of her famous father. 7. Muhammad Ali: Has Parkinsons and pneumonia. I really wanted at least one athlete in my team. 8. Aretha Franklin: Was ill a while ago, but not sure about now. I see her as Bobby Womack’s direct replacement from last year. 9. Wilford Brimley: Overweight and has diabetes. 10. Charlotte Rae: Is cancer-free now, but pretty much all the other Diffrent Strokes cast members are gone, so there’s definitly something ”cursy” and creepy about that show. 11. Dina Merrill: Wheelchaired, strokes, heart problems, etc. 12. Michael Schumacher: I have a feeling that his recovery will be short-lived. 13. Nancy Barbato: Frank Sinatra’s ex-wife might have Alzheimers. 14. Rudolf von Ribbentrop: Joachim’s son. Mostly because of old age and hopes of a Unique Pick. 15. Jean Ritchie: Had stroke problems 5-6 years ago. 16. C.H. Hermansson: One of the oldest living politicians worldwide. One of my "token Swedes" this year. 17. William Phipps: The voice of Prince Charming in Cinderella has heart problems. And I'm not talking about emotional ones. 18. Earl Cameron: Think of him as a British Sidney Poitier plus ten years. Should get an obit due to his CBE title. 19. Peter Hill-Wood: To avoid putting just 90-plussers on my team, Arsenal’s former chairman gets to join a new team. Had a heart attack some years ago. 20. Magnus Härenstam: Health problems. Another Swede.
time 8,599 Posted January 1, 2015 Here's my team, quite a few survivors from last year (and the year before etc.) New selections in bold. Spade_Cooley 9,521 Posted January 1, 2015 Blimey, Spade - some good low hangers there (whom I'd admit to have never heard of before), a seemingly high risk/reward joker, some highly questionable obits, and at least one complete bastard. Oh, and the wrestler too! Yeah, Lauren Hill (the basketball player, not the tax-dodging Fugee) is definitely a punt but I'm 95% the Mail will give her the obituary. My main worry is that she would have gone late last night and not be reported until 2015, because I'm pretty sure she's not seeing January 20th. Bob Benmosche is one I'm surprised didn't get mentioned on the forums because he seems a lock and is a guaranteed obituary. Frank van den Bleeken is another big point hopeful if he gets someone to kill him (a fun take on the usual "Right to die" campaigner: he's been granted euthanasia as he says he cannot be cured of his paedophilia), and Kris Travis is a 50/50 to go this year but the Daily Star (of all places) have been covering his stomach cancer battle and he was getting very pessimistic about his chancer of survival over Christmas. I left off a lot of probable popular picks like Clive James, Caroline Aherne and War Criminal Bloke with the Vs in his name because I'm not sure they're actually on the way out.
