How can she lose.

1) She wins and gets a massive majority which makes her life easier.

2) She wins with a similarly slim majority - probably the worst result for her but nothing changes.

3) She loses and doesn't have to deal with all this Brexit shit - happy days.

I think the big winners from this will be the LibDems but time will tell.

I too think the lib dems will get a dozen or two more seats.Mainly from Labour moderates and staunch remain voting Labour voters. You are right that Theresa May will win whatever happens. If she does lose the election do you think she would keep her seat or resign as an MP?She has one of the safest seats in the country so will almost certainly keep her seat.

Likewise it is a win win win for Corbyn.

1)He pulls off a stunning victory.Even if he has a majority of 1.Will go down in history as the biggest political upset in British history.Plus it means he can implement mandatory re-selection next time round and kick out the Blairites.

2)He loses by a slim margin and those MP`s that go are in marginals and most didn`t like him that much anyway.Stays on defiantly and pushes through mandatory re-selection to make the party molded in his image.

3)He loses by a humiliating landslide. He says he will resign but hold a leadership after the party conference in order to secure his successor is someone on the left of the party. Then he goes back to the back benches and molds his image as a non-conformist elder statesman of the Labour party like Tony Benn did.

Are you serious?!

I didnt care much for Benns Political ideology but I admired his conviction.

Corbyn was never fit to wipe Benns arse, you are comparing an elder statesman with a complete tosser who thinks he can run the Country like somesort of Students debate forum.

If Corbyn loses badly he will resign, he will have absolutely no choice about it.

He could then return to doing what he does best, holding utterly pointless fucking banners at the front of umpteen marches through Central London.

They were old pals which is why they probably come close to mind. None close to the calibre of Benn around now though. Or even a St John-Stevas or Denis Healey to be honest.

I get that but, seriously, the socialists that follow Corbyn around like he is some sort of Deity are not the socialists that would have followed Benn to all corners of the globe.

Corbyns followers are absolutely clear that they put principles before power, all well and good but they know it will mean forever in opposition.

Its much safer for them there.

Jeremy Corbyn truly believes what he stands for disagree with him or not you can't not respect him for being one of the few honest ones.

Well, well, not surprising at all that the Tories are about to drop their pledge not to raise income tax, NI or VAT. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-39671163

"Oh we won't raise taxes" says Hammond. Hmm, just like May said "Oh we won't have an election" or in the most recent Budget when Hammond said "We will raise NI contributions".

Yep, not only with the great English British public vote for this bunch of two faced liars, they'll love being flagellated like a new boy at boarding school. And that's before the economy goes through the floor later this year.

Vote for me says May as a vote of confidence in my deal with the EU. What deal? Does anyone know exactly what May wants and what she'll get? A device to make sure the exit happens halfway through a Parliament and not towards the end.

If only someone else was electable....

Can I just say that IMHO pledging that you are not going to raise Tax, NI or VAT is simply a stupid pledge by any party who wants to be able to stick to their promises.

5 years is a long time.

Unfortunately it is the stupid empty promises like this that have been proved to win recent elections.

Everyone cries out for a better NHS but if a party suggested putting 5% on income tax to provide that better NHS nobody would vote for them.

We (as an electorate) get what we deserve.

Absolutely. The pledge was never going to be maintainable, yet the UK laps that shit up like dog sick.

No wonder she doesn't want to debate this, she's already looking uneasy and evasive on foreign aid...

Tony Benn`s supporters where the same. The primary objective was always cementing control at the heart of the Labour movement.Corbyns backers are your die hard labour voters who hated new labour. They either don` realise or don`t care that although they love Corbyn and think he is superman or Gandhi that only 14% of the population want him to be prime minister. Most people I know even on the left think he is a dick.

That is the issue from an English standpoint it is either May Corbyn or Farron.May is the only one who comes across as a credible leader on the world stage.Corbyn and Farron would get eaten alive by the EU Trump Putin and the rest of the world.

I'm perfectly happy not lapping up any of the Westminster parties' shite, thank you. ^_^

So far the only guarantees are more tax cuts for foreign corporations, more overseas aid and a begging bowl out to trade with the Azores and the like.

Delivery of local services? Fuck you. Fair funding for schools? Fuck you. People not dying waiting on hospital trollies? Fuck you. It's like the last days of Thatcher's last Government only worse. Only there's two generations who are eligible to vote who don't remember those heady days of Thatcher/Major.

To be fair, we then got Tory Red with Blair and Brown who actively solicited the rich and wealthy and did little for Joe Bloggs as well.

I'd vote for an Independent Scotland, bankrupt or not, just to get away from these fuckers...

Does he really though? He never wanted us to join the EEC in the 70`s voted against Maastricht and was making highly Eurosceptic statements until he got elected in 2015.Also he is softening his tone on a range of issues. In fairness to him though no one can be leader of a party and stay completely rooted to their principles.Just isn`t how things work.

Cough... I like Jeremy, he says in a very quiet voice.

I don't think he's PM quality, though.

But then I didn't think David Cameron was PM quality either, and I was bloody right about that one!

I don't know, I don't feel like Independence is happening in the next few years. Seems like a swing to the Unionists, as seen in the guise of the Tories this decade, at the moment.

Willz and charon let out a cheer given the accuracy of my finger on the political pulse...

I mean I cant see the SNP losing much support in the General Election and if the mandate is as strong as they had last time it would be politically very difficult to deny a second vote.I thought Scotland would leave last time to be honest.I have met very few Scots who like the English.

That is thanks to Blair. He encouraged as many vacuous sheep to join the party and stifled the rise of any such characters.

Now that's unfair. It's the system I don't like.

Some of my best shags have been English. Only time I've enjoyed being fucked by them.

Nup, it's the whole rigmarole of bare-faced lies, like "austerity works" or "the bedroom tax is fair" or "disabled people really should work or we'll take their car away"...that annoys me.

Oh I wasn`t saying you didn`t like us just that a fair few Scots I have met don`t.
