Which Names Would You Drop?

Recommended Posts

disappointed so many people seem to like picking the same names "just in case" surely thats not the point in a list like this?

Comparing two examples, i think its fine to keep picking zsa zsa considering her age, condition and near death experiences over the last 10 years. However is there a particular reason to keep Castro on until he dies? at 89 is "relatively" young in comparison to others on the list. The same with Mugabe, i think picking people because they will eventually die is a waste of time

Finding this very difficult. There were only nine names who I looked at and said I really think these people will still be here in 17 months time but I have compiled a 15.

  • [

  • Valerie Harper (if she survives tthe year)
I still think it is too early to do this with any certainty.

Come back in December.

wait you doubt that she'll surrrive the year and you want her off next years list

The year is the Deathlist they were on. So in 2015, there's been two so far.

One thing I've noticed in recent years, is they are good at finding old folk people think must be long gone, then dropping then after a year, and then said person dies!

Think we should trying enter Brian Seville in as many teams as possible next year so that when he/his client googles his name all the results are this site rather than his company!

Besides Parkinson's, what's wrong w Ali? I honestly don't know. Retarded from a few head blows, ok: but death material in the next 500 days? Tell me why

With Ali, there was wobbles with his health a few years back - he looked incredibly frail at his 70th birthday, and one of his friends actually said on BBC news that they didn't know if he'd see his seventy-first. I personally think he'll live now until he completes his unofficial task of outliving every single opponent of his.

Mind you, I can see why people might fear he'd be a miss. And I'm starting to think the list should Queen Libby back, not because I think she's going to snuff it this decade, but she's too big a death to risk the outside chance of her potentially doing a Jimmy Carter one year.

Wasn't it Joe Frazier that said ' The problem with Muhammad Ali is that he doesn't know how to die.' I think he is getting towards the back end as since he was in Hospital at the beginning of the year he hasn't been seen publicly i don't think. I think if Ali was in reasonable health he would of been present at the Boxing Hall of Fame awards dinner were he was inducted the other week, instead it was his daughter who received the award on his behalf. I know you can't die from Parkinson's but i think it does generally shorten your life expectancy as you are more likely to get other illnesses such as pneumonia etc and Ali is said to be at the later stages of Parkinson's so surely he can't go on forever even if it seems as if he will do. Also i think both of Ali's parents died when they were in there mid 70's so it is always possible that Ali could follow the route of his parents. On the other hand though the average life span of someone with Parkinson's is 16 years after the diagnosis and Ali was diagnosed almost 35 years ago so he is a survivor and he will have the best medical care so who knows?

Well I won't bust on someone for putting Ali on their list. He certainly is a fair choice. But saying he is a 'can't miss' for 2016 begs the question.

I'm sure we all approach putting our lists together differently. Sir Creep is going to put every person with Stage 3 or worse cancer on his list before he finds room for Ali, for they're all but guaranteed to be in the final 24 months on this big blue marble, whereas Ali, who knows. And SirC can name a good 20 people that meet that simple criteria. Add a few real old people and/or folks from this year's DL, and there probably aren't 10 slots left. Is Ali one of the 10 most likely people on earth to die by Dec 2016? SC will get back to you Dec 31, he may know more at that time. But if nothing new arises, Sir Creep may have a tough time answering 'yes' to that.

If the consensus is that we keep the younger of the two former German chancellors but lose the republican presidential candidate is this a code message to include Arthur Scargill in next year's list?

Kohl not Dole.
