gcreptile 10,979 Posted August 10, 2015 I'm on the fence, because coming up with a list will mean that there will be people who I already want to choose for 2016, so I'd kind of want them to die AND survive them this year. I also have to protect possible unique picks, AND I am annoyed that Buddy Baker is already dead because I could have put him here. So let's see: 1. Emma Morano 2. Susannah Mushatt-Jones (joker) 3. Bob Ellis 4. Bhumibol Adulyadej 5. Martin Crowe 6. Christy Dignam 7. John Schlegel 8. Daniel Buechlein 9. Sumner Redstone 10. Zsa Zsa Gabor 11. Billy Graham 12. Joost Van Der Westhuizen 13. Suvra Mukherjee 14. Liliane Bettencourt 15. Phil Spector 16. Rev. Billy Graham (oops, double pick) 17. Helmut Kohl 18. Douglass North 19. Thomas Schelling 20. William Baumol 21. Oskar Groening 22. Ingvar Kamprad 23. Georg Ratzinger 24. George Zimmerman 25. Ilya Yashin 26. Olivia De Havilland 27. Joao Havelange 28. Peter Sallis 29. Cliff Michelmore 30. Jiang Zemin 31. Goran Hadzic 32. Gaston Glock 33. Ilya Ponomaryov 34. Ramzan Kadyrov 35. Mikheil Saakashwili 36. Sergej Pugachev 37. Tom Sinkovitz (US weatherman) 38. James R. Messenger (no points) Mercy replacement: Howard Marks 39. John Huntsman Sr. 40. G. Monty Brinson 41. Phyllis Tickle 42. Mel Stottlemyre Sr. 43. Holly Woodlawn 44. Jay Kallio 45. Louis Stokes 46. Maria Gaidar 47. Irwin Lipkin 48. Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi 49. René Angelil 50. Sir Douglas Slocombe Some thoughts: The obits you allow will make this a relatively US-heavy pool, which is fine by me. 50 names plus coming up with the day of their death is a bit much, in my opinion. I mean, if doctors want to, they can probably always squeeze out a day or two from some comatose, braindead body. Maybe picking the right month is more attractive and already impressive enough? Edit: Just an idea... if the month of death has to be guessed, than a later month should give more bonus points than the early months. I mean, those who picked Little Jimmy Dickens knew he would die in January. It's harder to predict a death a couple of months before.

maryportfuncity 10,658 Posted August 11, 2015 I came up with an idea for a new dead pool and I am going to try it out for the rest of the year to see if there is sufficient interest for next year.Pick 50 names you think won`t see 2016 and submit them here or inbox me.If a candidate dies points are awarded by year of birth .For example Kirk Douglas would give you 16 points ,Mel Gibson would give you 56 and Lindsay Lohan would give you 86.The winner is the player with most points come 31st December. Supercentenarians are permitted but points will only be awarded for Validated cases at the time of death.Yes 1899 births will give you 99 points.1900 births will give you sod all.No candidates born after 1996 will be accepted.Entries can be entered throughout the year. You are all allowed a joker. These are the obituaries I will accept: BBC News Sky News CNN Fox News Yahoo Daily Mail Daily Mirror Daily Star The Sun The Guardian The Telegraph The Independent Digital Spy Associated Press The obituary is only valid if the person`s name is mentioned in a title and specifies that they have died. Here`s my entry 1)John Hurt 2)Valerie Harper 3)Clive James 4)Howard Marks 5)Tim Curry 6)Liam Neeson 7)Jimmy Hill 8)Brian Sewell 9)Zsa Zsa Gabor 10)Peter Sallis 11)Muhammad Ali 12)Ian Brady 13)Carol Channing 14)Douglas Slocombe 15)George Alagiyah 16)Joost van der Westhuizen 17)Daisy Berkowitz 18)Leslie Phillips 19)Helen Fawkes 20)Paul Gascoigne 21)Freddie Starr 22)Kirk Douglas 23)Olivia de Havilland 24)Grace Lee Boggs 25)June Brown 26)Holly Woodlawn 27)Martin Crowe 28)Caroline Aherne 29)Dr Kate Granger 30)Liz Smith (actress) 31)Sheila Mercier 32)Dickie Moore 33)Sir Roger Bannister 34)Denis Healey 35)Oliver Sacks 36)Helmut Schmidt 37)Miley Cyrus 38)Justin Bieber 39)Lindsay Lohan 40)Amanda Bynes 41)Glen Campbell 42)Mary Tyler Moore 43)Stephanie Davis 44)Liz Dawn 45)Susannah Mushatt Jones (Joker ) 46)Emma Morano-Martinuzzi 47)Greville Janner 48)Rolf Harris 49)Stuart Hall 50)Chris Denning Team about to arrive but some clarification might be useful before a shitstorm erupts; the mentioning of a person's name...does it have to be complete. Handrejka 1,904 Posted August 12, 2015 Couple of questions, are there any bonus points for unique hits? Can we carry the same team into next year or do have to drop some as the DL does?
