The hills are alive with the sound of Salmond. You can track his Princess Diana-esque flight home on Flight Radar if you feel so inclined. Been the no.2 most tracked flight since it took off.

He is currently in the funeral directors just down the street from me.

He will be buried at Strichen, 10 miles from where I live.

He appears to have worsened significantly since the picture Arghton posted last May.

New video of Abdullah Ahmad Badawi from late September. He doesn't appear to have declined in the last few months, but he hasn't improved either. I'm surprised he's still attending events if he can hardly recognise his own family, as is reportedly the case and has been for some time.

On the off-chance that he's actually dead this time, LotM, as he was last picked in 2021.

Bad year for Peruvian presidents.

Alejandro Toledo, 78, the former president of Perú and Fujimori-era leader of the opposition, is sentenced to 20 years in prison. The charges are in relation to a corruption probe centered around the Odebrecht firm.

I wonder if he will soon start angling for compassionate release considering his age (or bullshitting some terminal illness), though it wasn't too successful for Fujimori. It took years of complaining for his release, and he only survived for about a year after release iirc. Toledo's been having legal issues for years now. I wonder if it has started to take a toll.

He doesn't look too bad in the courtroom photos in the Reuters article. I would not guess that he's almost 80.

Speaking of ill Lords... worth taking note of these names for deadpooling purposes (though granted, a bit of a shot in the dark):

Parliament is prorogued today, early afternoon to be precise, marking the end of this parliamentary session. Two peers are set to be expelled for not attending a single sitting in the last quarter:

Lord Rogers of Riverside – Labour life peer, better known as Richard Rogers, a very prominent Italian-British architect. 88 in July.
Lord Selsdon – Tory hereditary, member of the House since 1963(!), 84 in October

Additionally, another two were set to be expelled today for the same reasons, but they got a special "leave of absence" granted last night enabling them to stay on in absentia. They are:

Lord Lawson of Blaby – Tory life peer and former Chancellor, better known as Nigel Lawson. Turned 89 last month.
Lord Hanningfield – Non-affiilated peer, former leader of Essex Council and all round crook. Turns 81 in September.

Good chance several of them are poorly. I'll see if I can get any more info.

Crooked peer Lord Hanningfield (wikidead at 84.

Lord Rogers of Riverside died in 2021, Lord Selsdon died last month, Lord Lawson of Blaby died in 2023.

All 4 of them were indeed ill, as suspected!

Jamal Yunos, scandal-ridden Malaysian politician is ... probably ... not dead.

But he is supposedly fighting a return of lung cancer, as we already know, and also lost a couple of court cases this year.

He has to pay damages in a defamation case, which he didn't do, so they are seizing his assets now, in his house.

This happened yesterday, so I hoped to find some health news, but as far as I can tell, he seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth:

https://theedgemalaysia.com/node/729590

“When they arrived, the main gate appeared to be slightly open. There was no one at the guard station and after ringing the bell to the house several times, there was no answer.

“The bailiff called out and there was no reply, and they waited for 15 minutes. After failing to execute the writ, the bailiff suggested the next step is to apply for a forced entry warrant, and they left the premises slightly before 11am,” he said.

Okay, "DS Jamal Yunos" is his facebook profile. After 8 months of sharing resort advertising exclusively, Yunos posted on Oct 8th that "Allah has given him back health". He's recently been showing his face, too, so he's actually not hospitalised, bed-ridden, and such.

In fact, the 'fraud' factor with him probably has to be pretty high now.
