Australia has a lot of elderly politicians. Bill Grayden is 102, Elisabeth Kirkby is 101, Wylie Gibbs is 100, Tom Hughes and Bill Nankivell are 99, former Governor of South Australia Eric Neal is 98, Ron Elstob is 97, Hugh Hiscutt and former President of the Senate Doug McClelland are 96 (not sure if Neville Harper is alive, if he is, he's also 96), Bruce Eastick, Bob Ellicott and others are 95. NZ has a few born in the 1920s (Gray Nelson and former National Party Chairman George Chapman are 95, Hugh Templeton and Colin Moyle are 93. Old populist George Groombridge, still marked living on Wiki, died this year at 94) Other Oceanian countries + Hawaii and other territories have only* George Ariyoshi, former Gov of Hawaii, 96 and Marshall Islands' former First Lady Emlain Kabua who is 94. I'm amazed by how Emlain Kabua has lived so long, has also been quite frail for the last few years. Charles Walker, ancient Fijian politician and former Minister of Finance died last year at 92 according to facebook posts. *Counting those born 1930-1932, there's also 92-year-old Hawaii Republican Pat Saiki, ex-President of French Polynesia Gaston Flosse, 91, Falima Teao of Tokelau who like Visesio Moeliku I doubt is alive and Harish Sharma of Fiji. Average life expectancy of an Oceanian politician seems to be around half of that of a tennis player/Chinese politician. The best I found so far is this video, but it seems Emlain Kabua died earlier this month at 95. EDIT: Taiwan expressed condolences about her death, so confirmed.

Updating this list. Ludwig A. Rehlinger, West German official, secretary of state died late last month at 95 without much fanfare. Werner Krolikowski is marked to have died in 2016 on the German wiki. Looking at Spain's list, I'm suprised how many of the centenarians/near-centenarians are still going, however Antolín de Santiago might have died off-radar. Ancient communist Mateo Balbuena Iglesias' wife of 78 years died at 102 in October and I don't think he's made any appearances since 2020. Morales Moya is alive but looks quite frail in this image from January.

maryportfuncity 10,646 Posted April 26, 2023 Andrew "Brexit" Bridgen now expelled from the Conservative Party to add to the current suspension of the whip. They've been angling to rid themselves of this ongoing calamity since Boris went and the ERG influence waned. Bridgen's self-made misfortunes have been posted here (I know, because I was posting). Ongoing legal trouble with his estranged family which could easily result in a rent-bill for a family-owned property that would bankrupt him, so this expulsion saves the Conservatives the embarrassment of one of their own being forced out of parliament because he can't clear his debts. That said, I'm seeing no hunger for a by-election despite Bridgen taking 62.8% of the last vote https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leicestershire-65402195

Oh aye, which party if you don't mind me asking - I'm guessing Reform UK Also, am I right in thinking that despite being evicted from the family-owned property and landed with a massive legal bill last year he hasn't paid the outstanding rent on the £1.5 million property he had been living in? Feel free to post about his better qualities as well, of course.

Ah FFS, last time I looked there was a rant on the homepage making it fairly clear that mob are at least partly an ego-trip for Lawrence Fox who was an actor and "hopes to be again" (in other words the cruel conspiracy denies him a living and the whole message about him is a dog whistle to anyone else who feels similarly marginalised). Bridgen would likely be some kind of able lieutenant to that, then.
