RadGuy 1,614 Posted December 23, 2016 I was gonna submit my team tomorrow, but now I'll wait how the Carrie Fisher story progresses. If she dies in the coming hours (or days), I'll just submit. If she's put in a coma or something of the sort and is still expected to die soon, I'll add her onto there in hopes of her making January 1st. gcreptile 10,970 Posted December 26, 2016 Even in my longlist I hardly assign a 100% chance of dying. Currently, only non-DDP people have it. Those you want to pick are usually young and relatively robust (pre-illness). They might be doomed but they could still outlast 2017. Predictor 1,018 Posted December 28, 2016 Hey! I saw the new "Drop 40 pick" bonus while reading the DDP rules. To be honest, I'm not sure I understand why it was introduced. Basically, the Drop 40 consists of the celebrities that have been included in the most amount of teams. Almost by default, the most popular selections are those whose fame levels are high, whose ages are advanced, and/or those whose illnesses have been publicized substantially in mainstream media. In other words, the research effort that goes into finding these people is negligable. So why are we rewarding deathpoolers with bonuses for going with people like Kirk Douglas and Vera Lynn? It's like the exact opposite of the "unique pick" bonus, ain't it? Also, it becomes a self-fullfilling prophecy when a large amount of entrants choose celebrity x because they believe that others will choose him/her, which results in x being chosen. While without the bonus, teams would have opted not to pick x because (s)he is just really old and takes up space for better picks.[/rant] 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
