gcreptile 10,972 Posted October 25, 2017 Hmm, I just read that there are still three living heads of state from WW II. Apart from King Michael, it's Simeon II of Bulgaria, the guy I linked to on the top of this page, and the Dalai Lama, as head of state from Independent Tibet... Simeon II of Bulgaria as interesting one; given he became republican PM of Bulgaria long after being overthrown.
FixedBusiness 407 Posted October 27, 2017 His Wikipedia page is saying he's in critical condition but doesn't link a source and I can't find anything about it. I wouldn't doubt it anyways since it's kind of a miracle he's still alive. Hmm, does anybody want to start sweepstakes for Mihai? I say November 11th, 2017. The edit was added by some IP in China and a very similar comment by them was put on Grand Duke Jean's page. Take it with a grain of salt. Also sweepstakes go here:

The Romanian press did cover his 96th birthday, but I can't find anything about him being in a "critical condition". The official press release (in Romanian) merely states that His Majesty continues to be attended by physicians (various medical specialists) as well as two orthodox nuns. In one source, his state of health was described as fragile, "as fragile as the state of health of his country, 27 years after the Romanian Revolution".

He and Leah now seem the most likely to be the 17th death. I voted for Bob Dole as most likely but I'm not one for changing my vote retrospectively as some do! Kind of defeats the purpose and takes things a few notches too seriously.
