The Deathlist Cup

Noriega a hit for both DI and I. Obviously doesn't change much.

Did we decide that there would be a third/fourth playoff or not? Not sure I see a great deal of point, other than perhaps a few more hits in June.

Whether the final is DDT or Deadsox v Death Impends or Heef the tale of how they got there is vastly different.

DDT and Deadsox have managed 11 points between them.

Whereas Death Impends has 36 in the 3 rounds he has competed in and Heef has 26 points - reaping of the highest order.

I didn't ask about the 3/4th playoff, and one of our semifinalists is now on holiday till next week, so it'll just be the final.

Noriega, then. Agreed, Grim. Heef has been a credit as a newcomer in this Cup, I hope they sticks around and joins a few more of the deadpools.

DDT vs Deadsox 0-2

William Henry Harrison Die-in-a-Month Squad (Death Impends) vs Heef 11-8

I know it doesn't matter msc but just for accuracy Noriega just a 2 pointer for both teams I think.

Hmmmm - okay I give up.

Deadsox and Heef are obvious - the other two are too cryptic for me.

Presumably DDT = the wresting

and Death Impends = Thomas Jefferson

But why is proving more taxing? Without telling me is it gettable?

My DDP handle is Thomas Jefferson Survives. DDT's pic is probs in ref to his track record of dead pool dominance.

It's Jake the Snake's finishing move ie the DDT.

Thank you both - I might have stumbled upon the DDT but as a non DDPer Thomas Jefferson would have had me stumped for some time!

It's easier to find a pic for than Death Impending, and besides, my thought process only went as far as the DDT gif, before scrabbling. Deadsox was a tricky one.

Looking like a Death Impends vs Deadsox finals. I would love to see a Heef vs DDT consolation, but I don't think it's going to happen...

Well, it looks like my cup run will come to an end. Our fans have enjoyed their run outs to some of the more illustrious teams in the draw, but sadly our line up of slightly-too-fit players were too lively to truly take down one of the death pooling Titans.

I guess this is how Bulgaria felt as the clock ticked down in the semi final of USA '94. Much like Hristo Stoichkov was unable to pull it off with a second goal against Italy, I don't expect George HW Bush to tuck one away in the dying seconds.

Good luck to the finalists, and all who sail in the,.

GG Heef, some quality pooling on your end throughout the Cup, and things were kept close this tie as well. The two Earls were a real lifesaver on my end in light of Meredith's lack of obit - I'll admit I wasn't really expecting a last-week decisive boost to happen with my squad again after March.

Well, commiserations to our losing Semifinalists, Heef and DDT.

Both can be proud of their efforts in the first ever Deathlist Cup, however.

However, now there are two, and there can only be one...

So Death Impends took advantage of Spade's MMMDP pick, and thinks that my pick and Shaun's pick will die this month. This'll get interesting tbh.

Will admit that, were I booted from the Cup, Torr would've been my first choice for the Midsummer pool. So just as well I decided on the old person route there beforehand given Spade nabbed her.

So in terms of uniques the final has become a 5 a side game.

For Deadsox - Violet Brown, Anne Hamilton-Byrne, Colin Meads, Richard Overton, Julia Perez

For Death Impends - Smith Hart, N Parker-Fraley, Ahraf Rahi, Diane Torr, David Whittom

Other than Smith Hart I have no idea who the names are in DI's 5 but I think it would be wise for their relatives to start looking into funeral arrangements.

I considered Whittom for the MMDP, however as his condition had stabilised, I chucked him in favour of hope over adversity.

These teams are worthy of a final. Fun competition. Though I also have to admit that the amount of necessary research can be pretty high. The final, especially the 5 unique picks each, are a competition between deep, solitary research (DI) and picking the best of the already known names (Deadsox).

Congratulations Deadsox, the better team went through.

Well done MSC, a great competition and I hope you do it again next year.

Maybe TMIB could give The Cup a plug at the end of the year on the DDP homepage...then you might be able to start the 2018 tournament with 256 teams.  That would make winning a league and cup double a bit like deadpooling nirvana.
