I agree. Unfortunately, he looks great, especially considering his condition last year.

His daughters easily win their seats in the election as the far right could gain a majority in France

The death of Roland Dumas means that Jean-Marie Le Pen is the last known surviving MP of the Fourth Republic.

There is only one other MP, Pierre Pommier, for whom we don’t know if he’s alive or dead. His political career lasted only 2 years and ended with the 4th Republic in 1958. If he’s alive, he’d be turning 102 in September.

And most of all : major decline of his health recently, can’t focus more than a few minutes, and cardiac insufficience ! Would gladely welcome his demise at this peculiar period of france politic :)

I find it quite difficult to believe that a dying man watches elections on TV and screams "Dans le cul, Lulu!".

I wouldn't, it's the sorta thing that could swing it to the right soley out of sympathy, I'd rather him wait a couple months.

Let's be clear.

*Heart failure is common in people his age. He is not on oxygen which means it's not advanced.

*Lack of attention is a thing he can easily fake or exaggerate.

*Same goes for scarce hearing.

But none of these facts fully convince me he will survive the year.

What really really convinces me is his presence on the damn 2024 DL!

Not sure how much of that is true, unfortunately. I did some research on X and found this apparently new picture from yesterday, debunking those rumors: https://x.com/ThomasJoly732/status/1808570926989988252. I think he's likely to see 2025, but anything can happen at that age.

A thought :

Henri Ferru, the second to the last surviving MP of the Third Republic, died on 4 May 2006, almost 66 years after the end of the regime on 10 July 1940.

The LAST surviving MP of the Third RepublicPierre Sérandour died on 29 July 2008, 68 years and 19 days after the end of the regime.

Roland Dumas, the second to the last known surviving MP of the Fourth Republic, died on 3 July, which is also almost 66 years after the end of the regime on 4 October 1958.

So we can conclude that Jean Marie Le Pen, the last known surviving MP of the 4th Republic, will die 68 years and 19 days after the end of the Fourth Republic, which will be on 23 October 2026.

I recently learned that in 1958 Le Pen acted as a second in an unlikely duel between the 72 year old Chilean-American ballet impresario and choreographer George de Cuevas and 52 year old Russian-French retired ballet dancer and choreographer Serge Lifar. They fell out over changes Cuevas' production had made to a Lifar ballet. They fought in front of 50 photographers and a cut to Lifar's arm was the only injury. Le Pen was Cuevas' second.

Yes this duel is famous in France. I'm not sure but I think Le Pen is may be the last person alive, to have participated to a legal duel in France
