msc 18,472 Posted January 20, 2018 Ok, so in 2018 we will have 28 people playing to win the Deathlist Cup. 28, but who shall be the 1? Well, let's find out, why not? First Round Byes: Deadsox (champion), Death Impends, DDT and Heef Sorry about Grim's luck, although... sods law has just intervened in the first round draw. Draw to follow. One last thing, as you know, I draw Round 1 and 2 at the same time, so everyone knows at least one of their matches. So with that said, and this being random, I really apologise for someone's really dreadful luck of the draw which is about to be revealed...
msc 18,472 Posted January 20, 2018 FIRST ROUND DRAW 1. Charon vs Maryportfuncity 2. Pedro vs The Dead Cow 3. Young Willz vs The Engineer 4. Grim Up North vs Yorkshire Banker 5. Msc vs Wormfarmer 6. Spade Cooley vs Roverandout 7. Joey Russ vs Garn 8. Bibliogryphon vs Phantom of the Midway (AKA Rad Guy) 9. Sean vs Fixed Business 10. Gcreptile vs John Key 11. Deathray vs Sir Creep 12. Captain Chorizo vs Book Round 2 draw to follow... NB Players in bold have their teams in...

As it turned out, I'm up against Garn instead, but I could easily go up against Grim in round 2 when it's revealed, if I make it... EDIT: Also, at least one match is repeated from last year, as it's Bibliogryphon vs RadGuy again...
msc 18,472 Posted January 20, 2018 My team is with YWillz already, so it's locked in and safe. ROUND TWO DRAW 1. Death Impends vs Heef 2. Gcreptile OR John Key vs Deathray OR Sir Creep 3. Joey Russ OR Garn vs Grim Up North OR Yorkshire Banker 4. Bibliogryphon OR Phantom of the Midway vs Pedro OR The Dead Cow 5. Sean OR Fixed Business vs Charon OR Maryportfuncity 6. Spade Cooley OR Roverandout vs DDT 7. Captain Chorizo OR Book vs YoungWillz OR The Engineer 8. msc or Wormfarmer vs Deadsox (reigning champion) Lots of blockbuster ties in Round 2 if the favourites win their ties, of course.
YoungWillz 21,046 Posted January 20, 2018 Yay, home draw. Again. Out First Round? Again? Probably. Better get my team over to msc...

Because I was writing down the names fast there, I saw this and thought "lucky escape, Joey!" Only twigged when I was retyping down the second round ties... (The sods law for Grim being he drew the man who stopped him getting seeded!) Could be worse, could be Rover. Poor Rover. Luck of the Random generator... FixedBusiness 407 Posted January 20, 2018 heh, this will be interesting. Sent my team msc yesterday, I think you saw it? Anyways good luck all!
msc 18,472 Posted January 20, 2018 Ah Joey, wait till Rover wins the whole thing. No easy games though, whoever wins this will need to win some very tough ties imo. 1 minute ago, FixedBusiness said: heh, this will be interesting. Sent my team msc yesterday, I think you saw it? Death Impends 7,975 Posted January 20, 2018 Heef was a formidable underdog last Cup. Good luck in our March rematch as we both take it easy for now.
Heef 166 Posted January 20, 2018 Ah jeez. Gets a bye through the first round and then hits the losing finalist in round 2. Where were the seedings!!! Still, an extra month for the lads to be put through their paces. I expect them all the undertake the bleep test, with the frequency increasing up to the 28th Feb. A few laps of the local playing fields, some burpees and with a bit of luck they'll be fucked at the starting line.
Heef 166 Posted January 20, 2018 Oh, Good luck to all first rounders. But I've seen enough of John Key over the past 9 years, so go gcreptile!
the_engineer 1,415 Posted January 20, 2018 Good luck youngwillz . If you went out in round 1 last time means one of us will get into round two for the first time.
msc 18,472 Posted January 20, 2018 By my quick count, we're guaranteed at least 4 first time appearances in Round 2 via these ties: 3. Young Willz vs The Engineer 5. Msc vs Wormfarmer 9. Sean vs Fixed Business 11. Deathray vs Sir Creep All of which are hard to call imo. Wormfarmer is a deadpooler I don't know much about, but his 3rd place in the 2017 Windy Deadpool and increased hit rate in the 2018 one speak volumes. Certainly not a tie I'll be overlooking, and besides, remember Heef last year, who went straight to the Semis and trounced a few folk in the process. Winner gets Deadsox, mind - draw could have been kinder!

Grim Up North 3,726 Posted January 22, 2018 I've noticed in the Cup that warming up whilst in the squad often has lethal consequences. Ian Toothill and Patrick Cryne gone since training started.
Bibliogryphon 9,582 Posted January 22, 2018 Entered now. I was hoping for a tie against YoungWilz in the first round. I just hope Phantom of the Midway scores a better goal than Lisa Magill to send me packing.

YoungWillz 21,046 Posted January 23, 2018 Press Release: Excitement remains high in the YoungWillz Training Camp. One player is teetering, another is on oxygen and frailty abounds. Despite the manager's best efforts, they are all determined to see March (which year, they haven't told me). Word has reached me that my opponent is currently leading a certain Hare's Pool, and if that is a taste of the rate at which his picks topple, my team have no chance. Subs are limbering up in case February 1st is a stretch for the first team. 2
