Paul Bearer 6,099 Posted May 30, 2023 Listening to the new "Sparks" offering " The girl is crying in her latte" As much as I love the band, I'm not too impressed so far. The first 4-5 tracks are ok then it just seems to go downhill. I'll give it a few more listens, wish me luck.
ThereWillBeDeaths7 720 Posted June 11, 2023 The Moody Blues - Nights in White Satin Rediscovered this one as it was played during a funeral service I attended this friday. The man that passed away lived in my village and had been enjoying his retirement since about five years. Knew him as a friendly, interested and witty person who was still full of plans and ideas, and while he'd had lingering health problems for some years, his death came as a surprise to everyone, including his wife, children and young grandchildren.
TQR 14,384 Posted July 4, 2023 As ever with the KoS games, a select few songs in each list burrow their way back into my brain. This was one of my favourite songs as a kid, and I don’t love it any less today. And of course mishearing the lyric: If I had another chance tonight I’d try to tell you that the things we had were right as If I had another chance tonight I’d climb into a bath with Ainsley Harriott
gcreptile 10,963 Posted July 4, 2023 I really like the new Olivia Rodrigo song: I have to listen to her more. She might be more than the new Disney star on the block with a 3 year shelf-life.
Book 3,546 Posted July 14, 2023 This must be something for you @gcreptile Nice funky synth beat. Play it loud.

They get better and better as the song goes on. The singer is a little too school boy-ish though, like a British conservative version of Trent Reznor.

Yeah, I also got some Taylor Swift and Britney Spears vibes here, musically speaking (and embarrassingly altogether ): "Look what you made me do" and "Scream and Shout" respectively. I really don't like both artists but the songs I've mentioned are some of their better ones.
Toast 16,127 Posted July 16, 2023 Jane Birkin's obit in the Guardian led me down a rabbit hole to this gem. Serge Gainsbourg is serenaded by a choir of boys all dressed as him, complete with cigarettes and whisky props. It's all a bit much for old Serge, who's visibly moved.

Only in France can they get choir boys to serenade a chain-smoking chansonnier with a sex song as his biggest hit.

wannamaker 1,406 Posted July 17, 2023 Been using this song as some sort of coping mechanism as of late. I've noticed that my stutter has worsened in the past few weeks and that has affected me a lot. The moment I realized that it was getting worse was when I couldn't even say the word "Simon" when I was talking about some records I had bought recently. I'm trying to improve as of late, but it's hard as fuck to get the motivation when it feels like all of the work I've spent over the years trying to fix the stutter was for nothing.
Toast 16,127 Posted July 21, 2023 Watching as much as listening. Mesmerising new video for Gimme Shelter, based on the Let It Bleed album artwork. (The cake was made by Delia Smith before she was famous.)

I also love the fact that you can slightly hear Jagger let out a “whoop!” when Merry’s voice cracks.
