Who Should Be On The 2019 Deathlist?

Recommended Posts

It’s that time of year again, where we make suggestions to the committee about our favorite cowboy from Iowa and co but get completely ignored by the committee. So who do you think should make the deathlist in 2019?

Bob Barker's undroppable.

Unless, of course, he drops before Hogmanay....

Here is a wee subtle hint about my views:

GORBACHEV!!!!!!!

Also David Attenborough and Terry Jones would be good additions.

Tim Conway's suffering from dementia and is unresponsive after brain surgery.

Maybe one to put on the list for 2019.

From the current list...

Keep

1) Kirk Douglas: Extremely elderly and will make a record breaking 17th appearance next year

2) Leah Bracknell: Clearly still very ill, although she could go on for a while

3) Herman Wouk: Ancient and falling apart

4) Olivia de Havilland: Extremely old

5) Prince Philip: Too big to miss and now 97 and retired

6) Betty White: Looks frail and too big to miss

7) Javier Perez de Cuellar: Very elderly and wheelchair bound

8) Pierre Cardin: Very elderly

9) Stirling Moss: Retired due to poor health

10) Doris Day: Too big miss and very elderly

11) Bob Dole: Looks awful

12) Bob Barker: Several hospitalisations recently

13) Jimmy Carter: Too big to miss

14) Leslie Phillips: Looks extremely frail

15) Jill Gascoine: Seems to be at a very advanced stage of Alzheimer's

16) Vera Lynn: Very ancient

17) Robert Mugabe: Too evil to miss

18) George Bush Sr: Been in ill health for several years and in the danger zone with his wife dying

20) Pope Benedict XVI: Looks frail and reportedly in ill health

21) June Brown: Looks frail

22) Valerie Harper: Still slowly dying

23) Clive James: Looks awful, surely the end must finally be approaching

24) Jimmy Greaves: Looks very frail

25) Olivia Newton-John: Recent reports on her health sound grim

Drop

1) Linda Nolan: Although dying, I don't think she is in danger of dying anytime soon.

2) Prunella Scales: Don't think her Alzheimer's has worsened enough to kill her yet

3) Henry Kissinger: Still active and seems to be in good health

4) Honor Blackman: Seems to be in good health

5) Dick van Dyke: Still very active and in good health

6) Stanley Baxter: No health news on him, but I think there are other candidates who are older and/or in seemingly worse health than him

7) Valery Giscard d'Estaing: Looks in good form

8) Mel Brooks: Seems to be in excellent health

9) Sean Connery: Still looking in good form

10) Louis Farrakhan: Looked in good shape at Aretha Franklin's funeral

11) Ian St John: Doing very well despite prostate cancer

12) Ronnie Wood: Has recovered from cancer

13) Joni Mitchell: Tough drop, but I think there are better candidates, would be my first choice to carry over if any of the top 25 die before the new year

14) Paul Gascoigne: Too unreliable

May I suggest a certain FLOTUS?

Rosalynn Carter turns 92 next year. She spent some time in the hospital this year and would be a perfect replacement for the Babs Bush spot. The Deathlist has a 4-first lady streak going - Lady Bird, Betty Ford, Nancy Reagan, Babs Bush - it would be a shame to break it.

Sidney Poitier-One of Hollywood's biggest box office attractions ever.Currently too ill to attend awards shows that honor him, someone never picked by the Deathlist committee yet

Violeta Chamorro - Nicuaraga's only female head of state  in it's history and maybe one of Central America's most important leader's ever.Almost a dead cert to go next year, and would also tie in nicely with current Deathlist pick George HW Bush who I assume is returning to the list next year.

Mikhail Gorbachev-The same way Connery was added after missing out on Roger Moore, after missing out on Soviet Union's own Nikolai Volkoff it would be an even bigger miss to not pick  Gorby next year

Beverly Clearly-One of America's most succesful living authors, turns 103 next year.Outside of the works of Roald Dahl and Dr. Seuss, her Ramona Quimby novels were read more then any others by American  Schoolchildren from about the 60's thru 90's

Another name that the committee should consider is Fernando Ricksen. Very ill with ALS, and is very close to Joost’s timeline, I think he should get serious consideration for the list...

Rolf Harris is a must for next year, 88 years old and nearly three years of jail time still fresh in the memory. Still to make his Deathlist debut.

I agree mostly with this list here.

I'd drop Valerie Harper and Leslie Phillips. She seems to still be in decent health and has been given a good timeline. Then again I thought the same of Matt Cappotelli this year. And Phillips doesn't look THAT bad.

I'd keep Ian St. John and Prunella Scales. St. John has also has dementia and the bladder issue as well. And if I have my notes correct, Scales' Alzheimer's was advanced heading into this year so I don't see her outlasting 2019.

Leslie Phillips has been pretty quiet as of late and has had some big health scares over the past 5 years. Plus he’s one of those names that feel very deathlisty. He’s on till he drops imo.

Mikhail Gorbachev - Being that fat at 87 is a death sentence

Tim Conway - advanced dementia

Nichelle Nichols - advanced Alzheimer's

Roslaynn Carter - Frail

Little Richard - Frail, said he was in poor health

George Alagiah - Terminal cancer

Nobby Stiles - Cancer and dementia

Daniel arap Moi - advanced Alzheimer's

Violeta Chamorro - Brain tumour at 89

Bart Starr - Basically retired from public life, pretty frail as well

Jerry Stiller - looks absolutely terrible

Isn't being quiet a good thing? It's not like anything about you in the news at that age is going to be positive.

Not really, often that’s a sign of worsening health. IE, the fact that there’s no update on them makes it concerning...
