You're going to have to be quick on the draw to be 'first' to post, especially an important or anticipated death. Good luck! SC

The Cars were a New Wave band, weren't they? And the New Wave movement was most active in the late 70s and early 80s Surprising then that he was born as early as 1944, definitely must have been one of the oldest members of that movement - same with the guitarist from the Police as well born in 1942 but best known for being in a New Wave group

The Chief Medical Examiner office reported that Ocasek died from natural causes; Ocasek suffered from both hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases. Ric Ocasek would have been 32 and Andy Summers 35 when they joined their most famous groups Similarly Leonard Cohen released his first album in 1967 aged 34 A more extreme example was the drummer Ed Cassidy, who was born in 1923 and was a founding member of the psychedelic rock band Spirit in 1967, so would have been 43-44 But the best example of an older rock musician finding success for the first time is Seasick Steve, not a shadow of a doubt about it

JQW 282 Posted September 18, 2019 One fascinating musical fact - the drummer from The Stranglers was born before the drummer from Buddy Holly & The Crickets.

He was featured in the Penguin Modern Poets series 1, volume 18 alongside Roy Fuller (dead) and Anthony Thwaite (living) - I have the sense of a PMP survivor game here, any suggestions? Spade_Cooley 9,525 Posted September 30, 2019 Death from earlier this year that went completely under the radar (literally, can only find two news resources that mention it, despite her having been referenced numerous times in actual QO sources). Burlesque legend Satan's Angel died in April aged 74. She was still performing into her early 70s, and her trademark was setting fire to her tassels before "twirling five tassels at a time—two on her nipples, two on her buttocks, and one on her navel." Good trick when you're an older burlesque dancer. You can probably get the tassle twirling timed to perfection to save on burns and also prevent the need to shave too often!
