Spade_Cooley 9,630 Posted July 13, 2019 Probably no point sitting on this pick so let's push it towards the 2020 Drop 40. One of the best footballers of the 1990s and one of the best managers in the current game, Sinisa Mihajlovic, has stepped down from his job as Bologna boss with immediate effect after being diagnosed with a "serious illness". Italian news suggests it's a severe form of leukaemia. Igor Stimac has not yet issued a statement. 1

JiroemonKimura 95 Posted July 13, 2019 Do we have any information on whether it is acute myeloid leukemia or acute lymphocytic? The Guardian just says "acute leukemia". If it's the latter then I don't see justification for picking him, but if it's the former he's probably a 50/50-ish case.
ImNotHades 207 Posted July 20, 2019 It's acute myeloid leukemia. For Balkan info, ask Balkan deathlister, me.

msc 18,536 Posted August 25, 2019 As Serie A starts up again (can anyone beat Juventus? No.) Mihaljovic is apparently coaching Bologna from his hospital bed. Reminded of the time he got a red card during a Champions League match and then tried to sneak back out to pitchside disguised as a medic.

So he's dragged himself out of hospital, apparently against doctors' advice, went to the stadium and coached in person. Impressive tbh. 1-1 away to Verona. Spade_Cooley 9,630 Posted May 27, 2021 Apparently in the frame to be the next Inter Milan manager. Taking over that basket case of a club in a summer where they need to get something like £230m of players and wages off the books will send him to an early grave quicker than any cancer...

Not much of a difference for people his age. ALL is a disease most commonly seen in 2 to 3-year-olds, of course the survival rate will look much better. Spade_Cooley 9,630 Posted September 6, 2022 Fired by Bologna. Gotta assume they think he's going to be alive for at least another six months unless they want the mother of all bad publicity.
