His Facebook page states he has died as it is a memorial account and he is tagged in a R.I.P post dated 6th February.Last post he made was 14th January in hospital on oxygen and still struggling to breathe and his blood pressure crashed badly so yeah he has definitely gone between 14th January and 6th February.

Could it be that Steve Woodmore, formerly world's fastest english speaker, has died this month:

The one who sold stuff under the name "astrobatts" also has/had lymphoma and lives/lived in the same town:

Curiously he has been on my shortlist since 28/02/2022...I think something about his health came up a year ago. Ok I checked, gcreptile himself gave update about cancer spreading and cancer becoming terminal

A name mentioned a couple of times on DL... an edit to the Wiki page of British actress Elizabeth Larner says that she died in Florida in 2022. Born 29 Oct 1932 so she would have been 89 or 90.

A pretty big name in British TV and on stage over the decades (played a leading role in Up Pompeii! opposite Frankie Howerd). Though she later moved to Venice, Florida and fell off the radar. She lived there as Elizabeth Patricia Larner CalhounMyLife page here.

Can anyone find a death record? @Gisooo, is there anything on Accurint?

The Wiki page AND the IMDb page for French singer Jean Philippe both state that he died on 9 January 2022 (aged either 90 or 91).

France's 1959 Eurovision entry.
Switzerland's 1962 Eurovision entry.

I can't find him in matchID, though it's possible he moved to Switzerland, and their death records are notoriously bad to access.

This is somewhat odd though I can believe it. Have we ever known a Eurovision act to die off radar @YoungWillz?

Possible - I guess it can happen in any walk of thread. ;)

I mean Jean Phillippe isn't exactly an unusual name. But Eurovish fans are just as rabid as Doctor Who fans so any possible link to an act would be tracked down and wrung out to within an inch of its life to confirm or deny. So possible but unusual certainly.

Found out two NASA officials prominent for their involvement in the events that led to the Challenger disaster have died off the radar.

Arnold Aldrich - He was the manager of the Mission Management Team, responsible for Shuttle missions, before he became director of the Space Shuttle Program entirely post the Challenger disaster. It was Aldrich and William Lucas who gave Jesse Moore the final approval for Challenger to launch. Died in 2020 from cancer.

Lawrence Mulloy - He was the manager of the Solid Rocket Booster program for the Shuttle. He became infamous for pushing for the launch despite the opposition from Roger Boisjoly and the other Morton Thiokol engineers. He was also given much of the blame in the Rogers Commision report and as a result, Mulloy resigned in disgrace from NASA. Stayed completely out of the public view until his appearance in Challenger: Final Flight. Died in 2020 as well.

Yes, I did some extensive editing to his page, including digging out some old news articles in order to tie it all up.

Quite surprising that he died off radar given that he twice appeared in Eurovision (representing both France and Switzerland). I found his Facebook page, and he was originally from Paris, but moved to Quebec in the 60s or 70s along with his entire family, setting up a restaurant. Explains why he faded into obscurity.

Anyway, another one solved!

Excellent spot Goose.

Similarly I'd like to know if the following are alive if anyone has a sharper eye than me. A few we've covered on here before now. A few are new names:

Sylvia Thorpe (wiki), 96, British romance novelist
Margaret Storey (wiki), 96, British children's writer
Kate Sedley (wiki), 96, British historical novelist
Bernard Long (wiki), 96, British book illustrator and comic artist
Rosie Harris (wiki), 97, British romance novelist (alive in 2015)
Nancy Buckingham (wiki), 98, British gothic and romance novelist
Eric von Gotha (wiki), 98, British illustrator and comic artist
Margaret Crosland (wiki), 102, British biographer and translator

British historical romance novelist Bill Spence (wiki, aka Jessica Blair), 98, I imagine is most certainly still with us as he was covered in the media as recently as 2020.

British romance novelist Katharine Gordon (wiki) would be 107 now so I imagine long dead, but she travelled and lived across the world throughout her life so uncovering a record of death would prove difficult.

According to an unsourced edit on Wiki from yesterday, Sylvia Thorpe died on 15 January 2023, aged 96.

Her real name was June Sylvia Thimblethorpe, and using that last year I was able to find her on 192 to confirm she was still living.

No obit. If anyone finds anything please post it here.

She also starred in the Columbo episode Death Lends a Hand, which, coincidentally, I watched less than a week ago.

US Masters Swimming record holder, WWII B-25 pilot Russ Witte, still marked living on Wikipedia (minor name, but he's had a Wiki page since 2013), died off-radar in 2016 at 99.

There's a small group of people born in the 1910s still marked "living" on Wikipedia despite the fact that they probably died more than a decade ago. The most notable of those are probably Wesley P. Dahlberg, Steve Lu and Jiro Tanaka. Steve Lu has two home pages, the other page with contact info of him or a relative/someone who knew him, but I can't find any pictures of him taken after the 1990s. Jiro Tanaka was probably alive in 2008.
