Miranda lass 115 Posted July 19, 2024 So 9 hours till he dies apparently But just to add something else to the thread, I'd like to know if there's anything new on Tom Baker, in case the prediction was wrong 2

Steve 703 Posted December 2, 2024 Personally I reckon Tom Baker is a more 2026 candidate and not 2025. I can see Tom going downhill very quickly though.

JonNgoat 157 Posted December 21, 2024 Seems okay enough, I think he will probably take a year off the list since we need to drop a few.

I presumed he had declined honours but obviously no. He now has the additional honour of qualifying for my DDP theme team...
TheKeysOfMarinus 396 Posted December 30, 2024 I’ve seen a lot of social media support for him to get a knighthood in the past but that is never going to happen is it? We all love him but we all love him for just one role. I don’t they’d consider him for a knighthood ahead of busy stage and screen actors.
Youth in Asia 1,094 Posted December 31, 2024 How on earth can he only get an MBE? He is one of the best known actors in the country, most of his peers get knighthoods. It's more of an insult than anything.

It is possible that he snubbed something once upon a time but has since changed his attitude to the honours system. My understanding is that Stephen Fry has turned down multiple honours but accepted a knighthood. He seems to have become more moderate in his political views as he's aged so it's not surprising. Ulitzer95 13,054 Posted December 31, 2024 Btw, to those pointlessly barking at the moon about this, it's really quite easy to nominate someone for an honour, and my understanding is that a large % (something like 60%) of all nominations are accepted by the honours committee. There's a form online to do it. Everyone complains about snubs but 99.9% of them have never actually bothered to nominate anyone. You can't win the donkey derby if you don't register to compete...

And many others are just delayed to the next list to retain balance in areas of achievement, category, gender and ethnicity.
