Tony Britton

Very good pick from the committee for this veteran character/comedy actor.

95 in June so definately getting up there in age but news about him recently is fairly light if non-existent.

His first wife died last year - but that didn't kill Kirk Douglas either.

Does Fern Britton ever talk about his health? She talks about pretty much everything else.

The current Mrs. Britton sounds an initeresting lady.

According to an aside by Fern in an otherwise forgotten interview last month, Tony Britton is now residing in forum favourite Denville Hall.

Likely for a bit yet:

Quote

Her father, the actor Tony Britton, is 94 and living in Denville Hall, the retirement home for entertainers, in Middlesex.

"He's fine, he's happy and physically fit, if rather forgetful now."

That's not really a pointer to how his health is now.

The section headline says "A place to discuss the 2019 list" it does not say that the discussion has to be up to date health news.

Unless they’re seeing his hearse go by I think it is an indication of his present day health

It doesn't, that's true, but who really gives a monkeys that he is on TV in a series that was broadcast 40 odd years ago?

Yeah, Christina Shepherd, who has been agent for fuckloads of actors. Think she's in her 60s now.

Dunno if she still IS his agent, given Denville, mind you.

In general lots of actors, writers etc. have an agent long after they've stopped working and often after they've stopped living. There are still contracts applying to work that remains within copyright and often dependent relatives eager to amass and spend the resulting money.

If anyone's ever seen the movie About a Boy or read the book - remind yourselves, how does Hugh Grant's character actually make a living?

Have been watching Robin's nest on DVD, as it turns out and, sadly, Richard O'Sullivan might be a better bet for next year's list!

Well... very well done by the committee! Seemingly just "random old UK guy to me", but they saw something.

Respected theatre actor. Started in numerous sitcoms and father to very famous light entertainment presenter.

I was just going over the list last night and thought Tony was a cert to be dropped by the Cmme.

Everyone's a critic these days...:D

One of the best at being 7th or 8th in the credits in a 1970s film, imo.
