If only that were the case. See (for example) this and this. And that's just the kids, never mind the recent case (on here somewhere?) of 'bra-carry'... Law abiding citizens are also part of the problem. It's a strange thing, this "right to bear arms" idea. It resembles religion closely, as in that reason has little to do with it. The two stories of children shooting children you linked to give clues that it's not just the legality of gun ownership that is at stake, it's also the lack of responsibility some owners show to ensure their precious guns are, and stay, locked away safely. Parents who let 'loaded guns "just laying on the floor"' ought to be locked away safely as well. Why one would want to give a 5-year-old a .22-caliber Crickett rifle as a present I can't imagine. Just to give an idea what we're talking about: (I nicked that image from http://www.crickett.com/crickett_22_LR.php, proud manufacturers of My first rifle.) Oooh, pretty! ETA: I have a marketing suggestion for those creeps: regards, Hein

I'm a moron for not knowing jazz artists who's heyday was 50 years ago? Guilty as charged. SC

Recently said about Lassie Lou Ahern: Hospitalized at age 94 can't end all too well, can it?

From that article:- "DiPietro-Hochman and her surviving family were inconsolable late Saturday and would not come to the phone when reached." Touch unsympathetic to try ringing them for comment I'd have thought. No? Ah well newspapers eh? And pedantically, since they didn't answer, how do you actually know they were inconsolable? Also if they didn't answer they weren't 'reached' either. pfft. Not that guns are ever going away in the US. This has been self evident no matter how many of these appalling incidents occur.

I found the following passage interesting: That translates to: "Two burglars raided the house, he said and he pointed to a fresh plaster on his brow. At 2 at night! Bel Air isn't what it used to be." Do German burglars keep office hours? Regards, Hein

I gave you a 'like' for NOT posting a goddamn Bulgarian link like some people around here do with useless obits (see Dutch, Italian, Swedish). SC Well I like to see it!

Draven Rodriguez, the teen behind this viral photo/one-week internet story last year: has killed himself. Daily Mail obituary. That's the world we're living in now.

I don't know why I convinced myself Real might not scrape a Daily Mail Obit and kept him off my main DDP team when even random 20th ish placed American Idol contestants were getting mentions last year. The only consolation is only 3-4 regular teams pick him and tons of other people missed the boat on that pick.

Excuse me if I ask something stupid, offensive or blasphemous, but wouldn't it be better if the Scottish footy leagues played their games in summer, as the Swedes and Norwegians do? regards, Hein

Oh, I don't know about that. It's still very fashionable, everybody's doing it. Here, did you lift that from the lyrics of "kinky boots"?

It gets a bit annoying when the same death is posted in 4 or 5 different threads. Like some bit part actor that had a walk on part in Dr Who, then had a talking part on Blakes 7, and had a week or two in a soap. I've always been under the assumption that the "deaths of 2015" was for actual deaths and the other threads were simply to update about health issues. Although once in a while I may have posted the same death under a couple of threads. What happens if they also had bit parts in Grange Hill, The Bill or Casualty? One would think that but if you post an obit here an hour after it's been posted in another forum, you'll be told by at least one person who shall remain nameless that 'it's already posted' with a link to the forum. It's maddening. SC

I'm sorry to break the news but Peter Falk died 3 years ago. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-13909992 Console yourself with the Colombo boxset. LIES! Uncle Pete is alive and well: I'd remember if he had died!

I do agree that ALL deaths should be recorded in the yearly thread, as well as in the appropriate and specific thread. Ideally the person who is first to post a death should post it in both. Nobody should be derided for posting a death in the year thread simply because it has been posted in another thread.

He's one of the 30 most subscribed YT channels, so he probably would get Daily Mail coverage at least. One to keep an eye out for. And for any passing googlers: CHARLES TRIPPY BRAIN TUMOR CANCER ILLNESS CTFXC SHAYTARD INTERNET KILLED TELEVISION DYING. This same dude apparently had a seizure on Monday. This is the second seizure he's had since his surgery to remove his brain tumour. It's a shame because he's pretty sexy. Although he still has cancer, he's apparently healthy enough for his wife to leave him because he's been shagging around.

That's not a news story - women all over the world marry lifeless, uncommunicative, smelly, useful-only-when-stiff lumps of flesh every day.
