"All my old friends are dying, so I'm making new and younger ones!"
Frail and forgetful but still with a huge zest for living, and spending her birthday with her 85 year old niece eating cake. There are worse twilights...
It is now June 28th in the UK.
Clarissa Eden, the widow of Prime Minister Anthony Eden, as well as niece of Winston Churchill, has turned 100.
Eden is the second spouse of a British Prime Minister to do so, after Mary Wilson (Wilson turned 100 in January 2016).
Shen Jilan, China's longest serving Deputy (65 years), has died at 90. Famous because she always approved any proposal from the Communist Party, she was given the highest Chinese honour, Medal of the Republic, last year. Guess she is enjoying it in hell now.

A new centenarian this year who appears to have gone under the DL radar, tennis player Bill Sidwell turned 100 in April 2020. He attributes his longevity to eating lots of veg, and presumably playing lots of tennis as he was still playing into his 90s.

Hello there everyone. I came across the Deathlist several years ago in a high school health class (no, it was unfortunately not part of the curriculum). I think an informal "Rookie of the Year" gong has always existed. Maybe it could be recognised in Facts and Figures as well, idk.
Maybe also a prize for the highest-scoring team who have at least 15 people more than 50% of the British population have heard of.
I haven't been to any famous funerals, but my Mum knew someone who used to gatecrash wakes ... for the beer & vol-au-vents. Family members would assume he was a friend of the deceased & friends assumed he was a relative of the deceased. Sounds like a nice easy way to get some free food & drink. I think I'll try it sometime.
