True - I am convinced now that the solution has to be that those Yahoo local obits shouldn't count next year. So when Yahoo copy/pastes a Hollywood Reporter or Variety obit, they're okay. But when it's, say local station WXCS 5, or any newspaper with a local reference in the title (which would include the LA Times and Chicago newspapers though), it shouldn't count. That's what I will be doing in the Death By Numbers next year.

Gisaburo Sonobe who was the most potential candidate for the WOLM title after the death of Juan Vicente, it turned out that he died on March 31. https://longeviquest.com/2024/04/gisaburo-sonobe-japans-oldest-man-dies-at-112/

Such a relatively obscure guy going about his business, I didn't even bother to check whether he was DDP-ed. We've a Nobel Prize winner without an obit, yet Wilk strolls one.

Jerry Abbott, the father of Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul and 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott, who outlived both his sons, has died. He was 80. Abbott produced Pantera's first three records. He was also a country music songwriter and record producer. https://metalinjection.net/this-is-just-a-tribute/jerry-abbott-father-of-dimebag-vinnie-paul-dead-at-80

One of the Tories at Nigel Farage's birthday party Seriously, this is west end gold if someone were minded to put a production together on the last days of this government and the machinations because they still think there's a future for them. Farage is a serial choker where taking on true leadership is concerned, and there's a track record of former colleagues chucked overboard at some point who've no particular wish to work with him again Kinda like Mark E Smith's leadership of The Fall except Farage couldn't write anything approaching Cruiser's Creek to save his life! So, to see a former PM reduced to this kind of ligging within 18 months of leaving office is likely a new low for post-war British politics https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-68731273

Well, in Round One max_bossetti scored the most points and in Round Two MariNisia scored the most points. Now they both score with an individual unique hit - a sign of things to come? Vitus Hounder was a Swiss bishop on the conservative side, even relative to the conservative Church. He was a particularly strong opponent of homosexuality, but, as the Swiss news agency points out: "It is unclear why Huonder withdrew to the Sancta Maria Institute in Wangs, a boys' boarding school run by the traditionalist Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X, after his retirement in April 2019." https://theswisstimes.ch/rssfeed/the-former-bishop-of-chur-vitus-huonder-is-dead/. I guess he wanted to see Wangs. MariNisia gobbles up all the points of the romance languages with Italian jockey Stefano Cherchi, who was an up-and-coming star of the scene having already won dozens of wins in his short career. He even got almost every possible DDP QO, showing what a big star he might have become. He had suffered a heavy fall last month and didn't recover. I do believe though, that in both of these matches, more is to come from each player (meaning also from wannamaker and Cpt. John Tinniswood now the oldest validated man, but validation process will probably start for Josias de Oliveira. Also Shi Ping could be older than Tinniswood.

Many of us remember 1992. I'm sure Starmer et al are only too aware of that. However, it's a daily list on the news of how broken Britain is, that surely a change is needed. Whether Labour are the answer is a matter of debate.

Penny Dreadful would be a hugely satisfying loss. I still think Rees-Morgue could well lose too, at which point I think I'll run a lap of Westminster swinging my shirt over my head.

We ultimately settled for 1912 on Wiki. The reason being that 1911 could have been spawned as a confusion over his age according to East Asia age reckoning.

Pope Formosus died on this day 1128 years ago, aged 80. - Formosus was appointed as a cardinal in 864, and acted as the Catholic Church's diplomat to France. - Formosus became pope in a unanimous vote following the death of Pope Stephen V in 891. Once again he greatly acted in foreign affairs, particularly France's succession crisis between king claimants Charles III and Odo, and dealing with Abbasid troops raiding the coasts of Lazio. - Formosus was distrustful of king Guy of Spoleto, and would request duke Arnulf of Carinthia to oust him. Arnulf would arrive in Rome the following year and be crowned by Formosus- and this would lead to what Formosus is most famous for. - After Formosus died in 896, Pope Stephen VI (who succeeded the very short-reigned Pope Boniface VI) would posthumously put Formosus on trial in January of 897; Stephen was a supporter of Guy's son Lambert. Formosus' body would be exhumed and put on a chair, where a deacon would "answer" for him: This event has become known as the "Cadaver Synod". Formosus was found guilty and his body would be thrown into the Tiber River, but after it washed ashore, rumors spread that it was performing miracles. This led to a riot that led to Stephen's downfall, and Pope Theodore II would pardon Formosus later that year. Theodore's successor John IX would issue a decree that a corpse could not be put on trial, but Formosus' guilty verdict would be reinstated by Pope Sergius III (who was a judge in the original trial).

In my forensics class, we've been watching a short documentary about the body farm (a large plot of land where people do research on the way human bodies decay) and I was surprised to learn that the founder, William Bass, is still around. Not only that, but it seems he's still somewhat active. Maybe hanging around with rotten flesh does well for the human body.

Juan Vicente Perez Mora (1909-2024) "I'm only trying to prevent that guy from claiming to be the world's oldest living man" (Don Vicente about his secret of longevity) "Noo, noo, Nooooo, tell me it's a lie!!! I can't believe this news is true " (Average user on the 110 club. Not a joke) "Peaceful death of 114-years old cause sect mass suicide" (Newspapers tomorrow) "Damn creeps" (Don Vicente's last words about 110club forum users) Age at death: 114 Known health issues: Wheelchair bound for 17 years, but actually always did well for his age. Just he was, you know, 115. Cause of death: Peacefully in his sleep. What a horrible way to go. Alignment: Always seemed a nice chap. Progressively starting to look like an alien, he survived classic geezers like Tanaka, Lucile Randon and Fasu Tsutami. Everyone still remembers his lavish 114th birthday parade. After his death a host of claimants to WOLM title has to fight each other. Among those the uberfraudster how-the-fuck-do-they-still-believe-him Fauja Singh, Japan National Treasure Gisaburo Sonobe (a photo of him does not exist, so may be a nazgul), Brazilian elder Josias de Oliveira and the King of all Life Support Systems Shi Ping.

I think it's highly unlikely that John Tinniswood is truly the oldest living man. He's only a little above 111.5, which would be very low for the titleholder. I think in reality he's probably more like 3rd or 4th.
