That's right, the big guy gets his own thread after his appearance on BBC1 tonight reminded me to start a fucking thread for him. Tom Baker, The Doctor Who to anyone with a vague awareness of the show, is 86 now, and has apparently been in frail health the last few years after a lifetime of booze started to catch up. Apart from his 7 year lead role in Doctor Who and its lifetime of pop culture references, he was also famously Rasputin in Nicholas and Alexandra. He's also the narrator of Little Britain, Captain Redbeard in Blackadder and the voodoo loving artist in Vault of Horror. Anyhow, here he is on BBC1 an hour ago: Proper future DL front pager.

This video is from Lars Von Trier a few months ago. In 2022, he was diagnosed with parkinsons disease. You can clearly see the toll it's taking on his body. Overall, the way he talks about his situation is pretty grim as well.

For completeness I'm going to note that the IMDb page for Miss Jason has 2 different people confused. The drag queen Miss Jason (aka Jason Sutton) did appear in Maisie. The other Miss Jason is this British YouTube star, who appears in the Celeste music video. I watched that music video twice earlier and thought I was going mad when I couldn't find him and that's why. Mel C makes an appearance in that music vid strangely enough. So I'm guessing the YouTube star just pops up in random stuff but isn't a "performer" as such given the sensible Equity rule of not allowing the same name to be used by two individuals.

I missed this last week during the Masters coverage but came across it tonight. In this tribute video for Verne Lundquist, who worked his 40th and final Masters, notice at the 2:15 mark how Nicklaus' left hand/wrist is purple with what looks like senile purpura. We've seen this with a lot of older folks like Mitch McConnell recently. Perhaps he has some cardiovascular issues? Speaking of which, you see a purple spot on Lundquist's right hand at the 3:33 mark. Mr. Lundqvist is quite obese, so he may not be likely to see 90. I'm guessing that neither of them do, and I'm particularly concerned for Jack. (Jack is 84 and Verne is 83, for the record.)

Her daughter Kerry's instagram page really gives the best clues to her current state of health. The last verifiable photo of her that can be found is of her with former Ukrainian first lady, Kateryna Yushenko which was taken during Labor Day weekend of 2022. There is a video on her page from April 11, 2023 which shows a large group of family members singing happy birthday to her, however, whoever was filming the video was very careful to omit her face which indicates to me that her health has gotten to a stage where the family does not wish for her to be seen. I am fairly certain there will be no more publicly released images of her. The Kennedys are still very much an appearance driven family, and are very restrictive about releasing images that depict its members in ill health. They did the same thing with Rose Kennedy following her debilitating stroke back in either '83 or '84. Rose's 100th birthday in 1990 was a major milestone that much of the Boston media covered, and was marked with numerous interviews with younger family members discussing her contribution to American society and family stability. Despite the major event, no photographs of her were released to the press, which was in stark contrast to her 90th birthday celebration in 1980 where she greeted well wishers and the press from the balcony of her house. To this date, the family has not released any photos of Rose Kennedy during the final decade of her life. The only known photographs of her came from journalists who managed to snap a few pics of Ted Kennedy wheeling her in her wheelchair outside her home sometime in the early 90s.

This thread is for deaths related to the video/console/computer/mobile game industry, i.e. designers, composers, all kinds of programmers or even popular players of certain games. I thought this branch of popular culture was missing here. Of course, this industry is relatively new, so people haven't really started to die away of age, but maybe it starts soon, and people can die for other reasons as well. Everything about her is fake, and unfortunately influential. She sounded like AI on that Blackout album. Many female artists have complained that the standards now in the studio is to just sing syllables like her so it can be copy/pasted together, rather than just performing music.

New interview last month (a good portion of it talks about his Parkinson's and perspectives on death). He seems quite stricken by Parkinson's now, shaking throughout the video. Probably in the end stage now.

TMZ gave more information about his last months. They wrote his health deteriorated rapidly over the past 11 months, and was in and out of the hospital during that time. When the cancer was unlikely going to be beaten, he was put in hospice. After another visit to the hospital 2 weeks ago, he was sent home to live out his remaining days. The end came quickly once his family arrived. He also made no deathbed confession. OJ gave a cryptic Twitter video about him having cancer last May, but didn't mention what type and also was confident he beat it. In a February video, he denied he was going into hospice care. I'm not sure if he'd be the type that would reveal if he was literally fighting for his life, but it seems like the end was very quick especially.

2008: "Musician played banjo on operating table while doctors carried out surgery on his brain" I recall seeing the video somewhere before and today I stumbled upon it again on social media. Anyways, Eddie Adcock, he's still alive and now 85.

He's still in ICU but has been "greatly improving" the last few days, was able to participate in an event and did a small speech today through video call: Picture of health.
