Hard to see Rishi beating Truss with the membership. Truss doesn’t feel like someone who will do that well with the country through in a general election.

That seems like a close vote. Is that common?

RIP the person best developed for the position.

News we should be interested in: she’s ready to “hit the ground”.

Just 5 votes is the difference between us having Theresa May 2.0 and us being saved that particular fate.

The one who resigned at the last possible moment vs. the one who stayed to the bitter end. God help us all.

Liz Truss.

But only because the Chancellor and the two other former Chancellors are too dark a shade of brown for the average Conservative Party Member; they'll do for window dressing, but not for punch.

I stand by my original gambit.

Cleverly at the FCO. Fucking hell

Cleverly by name, James by nature.

Chancellor Kwasi, too. Christ. Pretty understandable given how he’s been in and out of Truss’ pork market in the past.

Barclay as Chancellor clearly to allow Rishi pull the strings as he can't make himself Chancellor in reality

Since Johnson, Raab and Truss have been 3 of the last 4, it was hardly likely that whoever wins was going to actually appoint someone the rest of the world could take seriously into the role was it? Nothing would surprise me about the incoming Cabinet anymore.

It's not as though there's the best and the brightest left in the Tory party to draw off. Most of them were purged in the 2019 election in favour of the rabid bunch of braindead Brexiteers or 'converted' charlatans like Truss that are currently in charge. All this whole process essentially consists of is a rearrangement of the deck chairs on the Titanic, we've ended up with a continuity PM, not even someone new who would do a root and branch restructure from the backbenches.

The fact there are still so many people who think that man is fit to be the Prime Minister of this country is everything that is wrong with us right now. A compulsive liar, a vapid narcissist, a convicted criminal, a blatant fraudster, a trasher of tradition and someone incapable of even grasping the finer points of policy, let alone crafting them. How far we have fallen.

You ever have those dreams where you're screaming and screaming but can't make a sound?

I feel like I'm permanently trapped in one of those.
