I cannot understand the David Bowie hatred.  Is it tactical?

Speaking personally, no, I just don't like it very much, it's a pretty boring down to mid tempo disco song.

Some of his early to mid-70s songs, (e.g John I'm only Dancing, Drive on Saturday, Life on Mars, Rebel Rebel) I think are really good but I just don't care much for anything of his thereafter (see also Elton John, Rod Stewart).

It's just that some people have different tastes to you - as they do to me. Book and TheOldLady have been consistently downvoting my favourites - currently the Jam -  since we started with the early 1970s but they're perfectly entitled to their opinions, as I am to mine, we just have different tastes.

In the last round I was upvoting Ashes to Ashes but this song is not particularly special. For me he is a bit hit and miss

I love Life on Mars, Ashes to Ashes, Space Oddity, Underground, The Man Who Sold the World

Let's Dance and China Girl are just a bit meh but I loathe Absolute Beginners

I'm beginning to think they are married but just haven't told anyone. They are both Abba fans and in the absence of the Nordic fab four, some form of deeply heartfelt slush gets top billing. Not my thing at all, but as you say, whatever floats ones boat.

They've both voted exactly the same today for instance.

While Let's Dance may not be as good as Rebel Rebel, John I'm Only Dancing, Laughing Gnome Space Oddity etc, surely it's better than House of Fun, Give it Up & Only You?

It may not be as innovative and groundbreaking as Space Oddity or Ziggy Stardust, but my absolute favorite David Bowie song is China Girl

It is like it is! B) Pure pop in perfection!

Definitely better that Give It Up & Only You, no chance of it being better than House of Fun though!

House of Fun is absolutely iconic and was hilariously Number 1 during Pope John Paul II visit to the UK

Only You is the only Vince Clarke track to make it to No.1 during the 80's

Give It Up is upbeat if nothing else

All will quite likely be eliminated. Are you concerned with the precise order they’re eliminated?

I don’t believe Let’s Dance is very good, not to the standard that Bowie set. I don’t think any voters ‘hate’ Bowie, but I can only speak for SirC.

If I had to guess if it was Modern Love that was near the top rather than Let’s Dance less people would be trying to downvote it.

Two of the five I picked out at the beginning of the round have been eliminated.

The other three are still in the Top 5

of my reserve list only one is still in play but there is nothing here that I really dislike only shades of preference
