Deathlist Cup 2023

Recommended Posts

Glad that was cleared up - I was about to do a very bamboozled post! I’ll chuck together a team just in case and send it over.

May as well congratulate Grim on his win. My hopes weren’t high this year. Me completely missing obvious hits like Mark Pilgrim goes to show I didn’t have the time to do even basic levels of research this year. More than happy to be joint highest scoring loser of this round :D

How many QO's are pending right now?

Not only is it a slow month (really Cup in general), but now we are in QO purgatory? Sheesh

"That Irish policeman what got shot" failed my FFBI (FFBS?) regulations as well, along with a couple of other names.

FTR, although we can agree to disagree about whether a 15-year head chef should pretty much get an automatic pass in this DP, it would appear based upon his crowdfunding page (that was halted), that Green Kambukoll may have been DOA on or about February 28, making our March conversation moot.  It would have been a really great pick.  I love finding the Green Kambukolls of the world.  Sadly they are few and far between, esp this month.

Sent an emergency just-in-case team, knowing full well it’s very unlikely to be needed. Joint high scoring loser in the DL Cup 2023 though - there’s one for the CV.

Ah well, there’s absolutely no shame in losing to MariNisia. Well done @MariNisia, now go and smash the next round; I’ll be cheering for you from the sidelines!

Thank you so much for your kind words, @TQR:)

But for now, we'll wait a little bit longer for the final result.

I'm not a lucky person, I never find lost coins at the sofa, and you're too good.

You only need a hit to be the winner of the round.

It's still possible.

Whatever happens, it was great to play with you.

I've learned a lot in these last weeks. You're an exceptional player.

Thank you for the lesson, Lord TQR. :hatsoff:

@An Fear Beag Congrats on the win. Good luck for the rest of the cup. I fully expect one or two of mine to die in April now

Only two teams left to come in, so hopefully we should have the full complement.

I congratulate @gcreptile on the victory. My team wasn't great, but there are names to keep an eye on, for example Swami Smaranananda who was hospitalised last year in critical condition and treated by four different specialist doctors and in his most recent appearances he's looked half-dead, wheelchairbound under blankets. Could live a few more months, but I doubt he'll make it to 2024 and his next hospitalisation will be his last one.

There are a few names I'll be interested to see if they're picked on the April round. One of these I'm pretty sure won't see May but it's a 50-50 if he'll get a qualifying obituary and two of them will get a qualifying obituary but it's likely they aren't as ill as some sources say they are.

I'm in with 18 minutes to spare!

Definitely the weakest team I've ever submitted. Well done to any of you who found some decent names over the past couple of days. The only 2 half decent picks that I found on Wednesday both died yesterday!

Best of luck @Captain Hemlock, I think ours could be a low scoring affair.

Good luck msc, I considered adding Dignam, Mongo & Ellsberg, so I hope they don't end up being hits :(

Thank you @arghton for the game, it was an honor. A difficult month, and maybe your score "should" have been higher. The old and frail are unpredictable that way.

Your unique names will be assimilated and added to our database.

Jimmy Carter picked by all teams. No one took the @diego plunge.

lol btw that’s the new saying ‘doing a diego’ which isn’t bad necessarily, cuz he was right on.  But it’s sure scary.  I do not believe for one minute Frank Field will die in April but as I said ‘I can’t pull a diego’ and be swinging in the breeze a sure loser when he dies.  So I put his name on as a defensive measure.

btw good luck @Banana it’s always a formidable challenge when I see your name.  Too formidable.

I also wish you the same, @deadsox.

I cannot believe my good fortune to be competing on the pool with you, a legendary champion with immense class.

It is going to be an honour. Good luck.
