I may not get to vote again

I think there were 25 separate votes between my vote yesterday and today which is negative 50 points. There are only 47 points on the board.

A worthy winner. As much as I quite like the quirkiness of Your Woman, Vogue is by the far the timeless classic.

..although not notably better than other Madonna tracks (notably Into the Groove) that sank without trace in the 80s KoS.

I guess it had much less competition than the 80s ones

I'm very happy with the winner of this game, I love Vogue ,  and I agree, it' a dance music classic!

I also love Your Woman, a worthy runner-up!

The new game will start a little later today.

I'm pleasantly surprised by the turnabout overnight, Even though I don't think Madonna/Vogue was the best number 1 of the 90s (that's Aqua/Barbie Girl, obviously), its preferable to White Town/Your Woman.

Now, about Lonnie Donegan...

Ace of Base and Fatboy
Fugees and Livin’ Joy
Shakespear’s Sister, Prodigy
90s tune anthology

Tasmin Archer, Britney, Seal
All completely destroyed Queen
Coolio featuring L.V.
And The Shamen, dance on E

They had style, not much grace
Manic Street Preachers gave good face
B*Witched, Jay Kay, Spice Girls too
Madge’s Frozen, we love you

Ladies with an attitude
Fellas that were in the mood
No bullshit, White Town should’ve won it
The 80s fan cabal has swung it

Vogue.

This is how I’d have ranked them, though tbh I’m a fan of everything above Cornershop so it’s all good.

Sure, the 60s and everything else will be fun, but already I can’t wait until the 90s No.2s!

  1. Adamski – Killer
  2. White Town – Your Woman
  3. The Shamen - Ebeneezer Goode
  4. Livin’ Joy - Dreamer
  5. The Fugees – Killing me softly
  6. Madonna – Frozen
  7. No Doubt – Don’t speak
  8. Manic Street Preachers – If you tolerate this, your children will be next
  9. Britney Spears - ... baby, one more time
  10. Coolio ft. L.V. – Gangsta´s Paradise
  11. Ace of Base – All that she wants
  12. Fatboy Slim – Praise you
  13. Madonna – Vogue
  14. B*Witched – C´est la vie
  15. Tasmin Archer – Sleeping Satellite
  16. Jamiroquai – Deeper Underground
  17. Spice Girls - Wannabe
  18. Shakespear's Sister – Stay
  19. The Verve – The drugs don´t work
  20. The Prodigy – Firestarter
  21. Whigfield – Saturday Night
  22. Cornershop - Brimful of Asha
  23. Take That – Back for good
  24. The Beautiful South – A little time
  25. Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody/These are the days of our lives

Vogue was second on my ranking just behind The Beautiful South.

Considering how much attention we gave Lauren Bacall as the last Survivor from Vogue it is no surprise that we have given it this accolade

70s, 80s & 90s all won by Female vocalists.

Sandi Shaw is positively rubbing her hands in anticipation

Damn! What an exhilarating finale! I've been Your Woman's strongest soldier since day one but Vogue is an alright song as well.

As I stated earlier I love the White Town tune (and Fatboy Slim too) so no disrespect to them.  Just that someone has to win and I got behind Vogue twice.  Looked like it was done for and frankly the last few songs all could have won.  Viva La 1990s.

Sorry, I can't post the conclusion of the 90s voting today because I don't have time anymore. I'll make it tomorrow.

However, I have already prepared the 60s KoS, which is why I can start it in the near future :)

Blimey @TQR, take it all back! Didn't foresee that turn of events but can't pretend I'm not pleased. Agree with arguments Vogue has a more 80s feel to it, and there are other songs I'd have chosen over it (Shakespear's Sister, Don't Speak, CHER ) but of the last two it's the more iconic song.

60s round should be interesting, a mix of those that have stood the test of time and those that...haven't.

'Don't go for second-best baby, put your love to the test'

Well done Madge, enduring and triumphing despite some dedicated...opposition.

Well, I'm disappointed, although I do like Vogue I'd put Your Woman well ahead of it.

The final five :

5/ Stay - my #5

4/ Don't Speak - my #11

3/ Praise You - my #20

2/ Your Woman - my #4

1/ Vogue - my #13

Dreamer, C'est La Vie, Ebeneezer Goode and Saturday Night were the only tracks in this one that I'd actually switch off, so I'm generally OK with how it turned out.

White Towns song Your Woman is fairly Meh!  If it wasn’t for the tune between the lyrics it would be pretty shit.
