Clorox Bleachman 2,419 Posted April 14, 2023 The B&W photo wasn't FDR's last appearance, technically. His final portrait is particularly fascinating, because he died during it.

The Immortal 634 Posted May 5, 2023 One of the last known photos of the crew of Space Shuttle Challenger as they arrive towards the launchpad to board the shuttle. All 7 astronauts on board were killed after the shuttle exploded during launch due to an O-Ring seal joint failure because of the freezing temperatures on the day of the launch.
arghton 6,726 Posted May 5, 2023 Haredi Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, Prince of Torah, under 24 hours before his death at 94. In January 2010 he ruled that "time of death may only be determined when one’s heart ceases to function, without any connection whatsoever to brain activity" - he went on to live another twelve years and two months. On the 18th of March 2022 he collapsed at his home from a massive heart attack and died quickly despite CPR.

Windsor 2,233 Posted May 31, 2023 Do posthumous photos count? Both Queen Victoria and Edward VII were photographed on their deathbed. Incidentally, the last photo of the Queen Mother. Attending her daughter's funeral on 15th February 2002. She died less than a month later on the 9th April 2002 and is clearly the most famous centenary who has ever lived...
