To me, nothing quite captures the existential horror of the festive season better than the terrifying slide from Bm to the ominous B flat in the chorus, and its repetition 37 times in the coda confirms it. Noddy’s final bloodcurdling scream of desperation is the icing on the Christmas cake that’s been left out in the snow. Philosophically speaking, can the future have ‘only just begun’? Otherwise, I think it’s a pretty fair selection. I guess as a song I like 2000 Miles best, but Pogues or Greg would be worthy champs too. That Ray Conniff song gets pretty intense eh. I think I bought my daughter at least three different Now Christmas albums over the years and it was on none of them.
