The negative reacts are really random. If I come on and there have been lots of posts I am not going to negative react every single one of them but if I just happen to see one that frustrates me because I thought progress was being made then you might get it. In addition SC and TQR have made their intentions fairly clear so the chances of influencing them are fairly slim. The negative reactions are more like shorthand comments - essentially I disagree with you without actually saying that in a separate comment. If you voted something I liked you would probably get the positive react. It is just another way of showing engagement with the game.

I do think that there is a lot of Beatles negativity which in my opinion is undeserved.

However, the way the game works is that we all have equal votes so you express yours and I will express mine and we comment accordingly

Exactly what I was thinking but you've said it way more eloquently than I probably would have. I don't always check back over all previous votes so it may turn out that it's just the one immediately before I vote that gets my reaction, negative OR positive

As far as I can see, this is yet another misunderstanding of the facepalm and anger reactions.

Facepalm = *sigh* ffs

Anger = GRRRR FFS

They're just general emotional reactions, neither are personal, but some take it that way. The way to take any personal offence out of these two reactions, I've said it before, introduce a 'dickhead' reaction. PLEASE mods!

Anyone old enough to have been around when Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich [sic?] were on the scene: what did you think of them back then? Their name, the way they looked, the music...has it all just aged a bit poorly?

Yes. As a member of the grumpy old bastards club, I remember them reasonably well.  Their “Legend of Xanadu” was brilliant on TOTP. Most of the music during that period was great.

A bit like people aged in their 40’s reminiscing the 80’s.

Is there an echo in here?

I said what I said re: Beatles a few days back.  I’m sticking to it.

I like the idea of the dickhead reaction but I would then ask the Admins to lift the daily limits so that I can toss dickheads all over the place.

It's not a case of "deserving". It's whether the person voting likes the song .... or not.

@Bibliogryphon @justonecornetto, about your negative reactions, my -6 to the hateful Beatles was not the only one of the last hours.

And... @Book, @Toast, @TQR and @Sir Creep?

At this time of day... without a negative reaction? Only to me?

Maybe it was something really exclusive to me.

I might give a negative reaction if I disapprove of both the poster's plus and minus awards.

But if they give a minus to a song that I like but also give a plus to a song I like (or vice versa with a disliked song), I wouldn't.

All I could think during the first round was holy shit, the Beatles were necessary for the charts. The situation was dire. Their presence shepherded a lot of other good things on there.

This is the type of, with respect, horseshit that makes the Beatles just that little bit easier to knock. (IMO, not here to change opinions, just share)

I won’t waste points in CSP - I’m convinced few of you ever listened to it and fewer are old enough to know it (looking at you @Great Uncle Bulgaria  (I’ve attached the song for your convenience).  Wasn’t going to win but it’s one of the top 12 songs on this list, make no mistake.

As the list sits now, anything under 24 points can go, and most songs 24 and above are really good.  Gonna be tough cut downs in 4-5 days.

In the States, We Five released the song and this is the version I grew up with.  It went to #3 on Billboard.  The full ensemble of vocals really makes the song, and imho eclipses the versions of CSP or Ian & Sylvia.  Regardless, it’s a great tune.
