The top 7 are perfect, order aside.  I really like the first 40 seconds of the Donavon song, and so did he—so much so in fact that he repeats those 40 seconds over and over, forgets to write a bridge, and put it out as a single. That’s next on SirC’s hit list once we get rid of the 3-4 trash songs on the bottom. If you’re a fan of the song I suggest you build up its points the next 24 hours, bc then ‘it’s on’.

The song did not chart in the US so it is not surprising that it was not included in certain Greatest Hits compilations (There are many of these as my wife has a significant Monkees vinyl collection) but this game is about success on the UK chart and this track is a fascinating insight into Micky Dolenz's Anglophilia. Like Penny Lane and Up The Junction this has an important place in English urban folk.

 

In addition there are many fantastic tracks by a range of artists that I would consider to be their best work that were not their biggest hits. However, No.2 on the UK singles chart is a significant achievement. It may not survive but I am going to support it.
