I picked him in 2023 but not last year or 2025

I had Cousy on my list last year but dropped... but yeah I could see springing him back up.

For what it's worth Cousy had this to say back in June prior to the NBA finals:

Quote

I'm 95 f---ing years old with one foot in the grave and I can barely move. I know I'm in overtime. So everything in your life becomes more meaningful. And one of the last things I want to be able to see is for the Celtics to hang up banner No. 18.

And given that the banner no. 18 was, indeed, hung up a few months ago, safe to say he can die happy now whenever he/his body chooses to do so

This might be just me and not being in death pooling very long, but it seems there is a larger number of people this year then last that I have been putting on a watch list because they recently have been diagnosed with cancer, or some other grave illness.  Then you have the hard decisions whether to put them on a list this year, or you think they can wait a year or two. My shadow list for instance seems to have a majority of older people with sprinkling here and there of sick people.  But I might have a significant amount of sick people next year looking at my long list

He was quite involved in presenting sections of the 1964 General Election broadcast and reported on the 1956 Ashes. Pretty much the last person involved with both of those.

If he makes it to 2026, Reverend Jesse Jackson is imho a good shout. Jackson has been suffering from Parkinson's for over 7 years, is wheelchair bound (not even to mention his overall frail state), and I'm starting to think there are more underlying issues he's having, as this IG video (second slide) of his speech from around New Year's Eve and the video of Reverend Al Sharpton meeting him for a Christmas dinner could suggest.

Given that half of LA/surrounding area is on fire right now. A thing to do would be make a list of celebs (mainly older), who live there with houses that have burned down or had to evacuate. Especially those who already have breathing problems.

Bound to be increased cases of lung cancer in the next few years because of smoke inhalation and toxic substances in the air.

Just saw a clip of Jane Goodall accepting the presidential medal of freedom the other day. She looks excellent and is turning 91 this year. I'd feel comfortable saying she probably (and hopefully) has at least a few years left.

I was thinking that with regards to Robert Wagner but apparently his main home is in Colorado ? He retains a  second home in California so it all depends on if he was in LA when the drama started.

I agree with anyone saying Phil Collins. He looks terrible for his age and reminds me of my grandma when she was in her 90s. I'm also still skeptical that Joni Mitchell could possibly live much longer, but admittedly I said that many years ago, and she's still going.

It's been a while since anyone suggested Roman Polanski.

He turns 92 in August. Still seems to be fairly active. But has had a number of health issues over the years along with a number of legal issues.

Instead of doing 26 for ‘26, here are just 10 names that deserve consideration:

Well, I couldn't help it. Here's yer 26 for ‘26:

Spoiler
  1. Chris Hoy (50): Terminal cancer. Pretty much a lock for the 2026 DL.
  2. June Lockhart (101) / Lee Grant (101?): If Eva Marie Saint is a hit in 2025, then I see no reason for DL to stop their streak of centenarian actresses. Lee Grant and June Lockhart are the leading ladies most suited to fill that role.
  3. Linda Ronstadt (80): Living with PSP for an unreasonably long time.
  4. Charles III (78): Cancer
  5. Ted Turner (88): Nearing the end of his Lewy Body Dementia prognosis.
  6. Jose Mujica (91): Considered a top contender for the 2025 DeathList until miraculously recovering from cancer in late December.
  7. Violeta Chamorro (97): Another Latin American politician with a large forum presence. Referred to as "immortal" back in 2018.
  8. Jean Marsh (92): Classic actress with a score of health issues
  9. Mike Ditka (87): I'm surprised DL went with Brian Wilson as their boomerang pick over Mike Ditka. Iron Mike is getting rustier each year.
  10. James Watson (98): Longtime forum favourite. Frail since the 1990s.
  11. Mehmet Ali Agca (68): JPII shooter, terminal cancer
  12. Salman bin Abdulaziz (91): There's half a dozen royals who would make good DL picks in the near future. Salman is the most reasonable choice, as King Fahd was on the DeathList some time ago.
  13. Sidney Cooke (99): Monster.
  14. Don King (95): Big name whose years of alleged health issues are finally catching up to him.
  15. Ken Livingstone (81): Alzheimer's
  16. Mahmoud Abbas (91): Palestinian leader in poor health for decades.
  17. Steve McMichael (69): He's terminally ill, but is he deathlist-y? Compared to recent low-level picks, he eclipses Genesis P-Orridge in fame and Nigel Starmer-Smith in sickness.
  18. Marita Camacho Quiros (115): Speaking of low-hanging fruit... it's absolutely mind-boggling that someone with even a sliver of notability is one of the oldest people on the planet. Easily more impressive than the fraudster Ruby Muhammad.
  19. Katherine Jackson (96): Singing Jackson matriarch, outlived several of her own children.
  20. Michael Caine (93): Near the top of the A-list. Talk of retirement a few years ago.
  21. Sam Nujoma (97): In declining health
  22. David Irving (88): Survived a death hoax last year.
  23. Jesse Jackson (85): He looked awful when I met him in 2018, and has only deteriorated since.
  24. Bruce Willis (71) / Wendy Williams (62): Very deathlist-y, but always seem to be doing relatively fine in spite of their dementia diagnoses.
  25. Ruth Buzzi (90): She's had dementia since 2012 and survived numerous strokes. Either approaching immortal territory or her health history is mostly exaggerated.
  26. Ozzy Osbourne (78): the last living individual from the 1987 list. I wouldn’t object to him being the next Clive Dunn.

I'm losing interest in deadpooling, so I wanted to get this out of the way.

Someone who starred in cheers and later made guest appearances in spin off Frasier. I don't imagine that Shelley will live for very long.

  4. Brian Wilson (84): Former addict, current widower with dementia. God only knows how much time he has left.
  5. David Lynch (80): Seems more like a 2026 death than a 2025 one.
  6. Linda Ronstadt (80): Living with PSP for an unreasonably long time.
