Kenny 291 Posted Saturday at 16:17 Itooka while for Tomiko, the world’s oldest woman, to pass on her title. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c9830vpp2p0o No doubt, Paul Borer will be along soon to tell us it’s been posted on another thread. ETA - there’s no date in the BBC article and Auntie’s journalism is notoriously shoddy…. 1

Yes it has been posted elsewhere, you've been a member of this site for over 5 years now, how do you not know how things work, either use the search function or check the relevant thread (such as in this case 'World's Oldest') before posting. You must be confusing me with someone who gives a fuck. I don’t visit very often as I can’t be bothered with petty rules. 1

Toast 16,310 Posted Saturday at 17:58 I still maintain all deaths should be recorded in this thread. I don't see the point of it otherwise. Most people probably qualify for more than one category anyway.

I think it'd become too cluttered, and deaths that haven't been reported in other threads would get lost in the bombardment of names. It's a lot more user friendly to be able to sort which threads and therefore deaths you look at, if your not interested in golf deaths (for example) you simply ignore that subject's thread. Plus, as I'm sure we all know, Wikipedia already complies all deaths into a single page in a much more streamlined fashion than anything that could be done here.
time 8,720 Posted Saturday at 18:42 This is the dead of 2025 - everyone who dies in 2025 belongs here. If you don't like it don't read the thread! And if someone posts a death in here that's been posted elsewhere, there's absolutely no need to point it out! Having said that, Kenny is still wrong - Britt Allcroft died in 2024.

I double posted maybe a dozen times when I first arrived at DL cuz I thought like you, but after being beaten up for it I adopted the more typical posting procedures. maryportfuncity 10,756 Posted yesterday at 10:55 11 minutes ago, drol said: This? EDIT: personal too. Yeah, the relevant rule is below. Fuck knows, I like smashing the Deathrace and it feels right in dead pooling terms to have it - ahem - dead and buried before the DDP site updates to the present year. I'm not disputing for a second that Hays is dead and also thinking there'll be a decent q/o when some obscure academic journal picks him up. You're right, re the "personal" thing. Bit of a nuanced judgement for sure but any communication line where the main point is the promotion of the person behind it (blog, tic-tok etc.) is likely even too dodgy for Deathrace purposes. Hays may well, eventually, make a Guardian obit or Other Lives in there, though they take their time. The good news - I think - is that religious scholars and the like do have many online news outlets that are about news and linked to a creed or a group of some kind, so yer man will likely feature soon. 9 - An "obit" in the context of the Deathrace is any news report in English from a reliable source. Such sources include - but are not limited to - UK national press, UK national broadcast organisations, foreign press and broadcast organisations with an English language thread to their communication, trade press in English, local news organisations reporting in English and coverage in specialist online sites, such as those monitoring the well-being of super-centenarians. Where dispute arises over the qualifying nature of a news source for obit purposes MPFC's decision is final. But he wants fast and furious competition and is generally very amenable to low hanging dead pool fruit of all varieties.
