Plane, Train And Automobile Crashes

Recommended Posts

They were saying on the radio this morning that our perception of how the well run, managed and, generally, totally efficient German rail network is, is a bit bollocks.

The word is they are generally rag bag and a bit shite.

They also did a summary yesterday on train crashes in Europe and how the UK is one of the very safest anywhere.

No surprises there really, ours are as slow as fuck and never run on time, they have no chance of meeting each other and having a head on!!

Slow as fuck they may be, but I wouldn't say they have no chance of crashing.

This happened as I was on the top deck of a bus on my way to college

http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/december/12/newsid_2547000/2547561.stm

I got off the bus to help those that were injured.

I remember that. I think the discussion pertained to recent times.....I think.

Whatever happened about the plans to speed up the rail lines? The domestic rail lines I could understand there being a danger, but for Eurostar on the UK side could do with a bit of a kick.

Deserving of a medal in regards to distinguished service in civilian life.

You have my warmest regards for your kindness and wise actions in a difficult situation almost beyond comprehension.

Iron Maiden's new Boeing 747 tour plane 'Ed Force One' lost a battle with a ground tug, and the launch of the tour may need new travel arrangements. This all due to Bruce Dickinson's piloting? Is that for real -- they let HIM PILOT the goddamn thing?

This is not as wacky as at first it might appear, Dickinson is a polymath and amonst other talents is a qualified commercial pilot and even had a job as one concurrently with his "daytime" occupation. He is also an accomplished fencer (the sport with pointy swords, not building barriers round gardens, though he could probably do that better than me...).

Speaking as someone who has no talent for even one thing, this guy is actually quite annoying.

He did pilot the plane taking the Huns to an away game in Europe I seem to recall.

I'd have been happy to see that one crash.....

Plus, I preferred all their stuff when it was covered by Hellsongs..

Qualified pilot piloting a 'plane. Who'da thought eh?

No, not down to Dickinson's piloting, mechanical failure of the tug.

Egyptair flight MS804 with 66 souls on board has disappeared over the Mediterranean shortly before it was due to land in Cairo.

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/20/world/middleeast/egyptair-flight-804.html

Even more remarkable, the story has completely disappeared from the news!

I wonder why!

It's been flogged to death.

A Deep Ocean Search Ltd. vessel is on its way and should be in the crash area by the weekend; it's capable of locating and retrieving the recorders. The whole media circus will be back.

Oh... they found the plane... that means all my "theories" about ISISlam are wrong or something... well done..

wow...

Briefly hearing about the wreckage being found doesn't somehow mean that the story isn't being essentially buried cos everyone knows who (or what) is responsible for it not making it to the destination. If I say "we will never hear of this story again" and then you have to "celebrate" the fact that it briefly came up again for like 5 nanoseconds, that shows who's really right.

Whatever. I didn't think you would stick your tongue out over whether or not something came back on the news ? If you were getting excited about "proving me wrong" for such a brief reappearance of the story I thought that meant you thought there was some kind of deeper "moral victory"?

Anyway, it wasn't "done to death" it was on the news for like a day at most despite being a passenger jet from a major (and highly Islamic) country's airline. They went on for aaages about Malaysian Whatsit Airways Flight Whatever.

Since you think one day's coverage is "doing it to death", you're essentially telling me that these days that you don't think "Halibuts + explosions" is really much of a "news" item any more?

Hence accidentally making my point for me.....?

A hot air balloon crash in central Texas on Saturday appeared to kill all 16 of the balloon's passengers, the Associated Press reports.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson Lynn Lunsford told the AP that the balloon caught fire and crashed into a pasture near Lockhart, Texas, around 7:40 a.m.

This is exactly how Sir Creep's uncle died and almost the same vicinity. Not good. Condolences to all the families.

Boeing 737 from Dubai has crashed near Rostov, Russia. 55 people aboard

https://www.rt.com/news/336185-boeing-crash-dubai-rostov/

Interesting article in today's Guardian saying the airline in question on this crash have an approach to safety that is very unsafe.

Sadly they're so down market they tend not to carry the obitable in any significant numbers.

I've been waiting for this moment. You castigated me for posting the Nice, France terrorist attack in the Terrorists & Topical Terrorist Targets thread; since when has a hot air balloon been a plane?

I'm still awaiting an answer to this question by the way.
